So I am trying to decide between the Michael B petite princess or princess...I am a size 5 and when I tried on both rings, I preferred the look of the petite princess (in beadset - love it!). Here''s the problem - I''ve been reading that the petite should only accomodate up to a 1.5 carat and we''re looking around 1.75. I personally think the petite would showcase the stone that much more and I also love the dainty band look. Does anyone know why they don''t recommend the petite for larger stones - will we run into structural problems with the ring if we try to get a larger stone in the petite setting? Please help :)

Thanks for posting that (and so quickly!) I should have specified I''m thinking about the one-sided bands (not the 3-sided) so those are even thinner. Just wondering what the safest bet is as far as how big I can go and still get the petite...thanks again!

it should be fine no worries... you''ll be back at your jewler once a year anyhow... just have them check the prongs then...

awesome - thanks for your help! I''ll let you know how things turn out :)
