Mica the Saluki update….

Mica had a boyfriend 8 weeks ago and……..
1 more week to go.
Expecting 8 but up to 10 puppies. Yay.
Ms Mica has gone from 21 kilos to 29 kilos.
We have a guardian arrangement with the breeder. Mica is off tomorrow for a 3 month stay with the breeder to birth and raise the puppies. I’ll be visiting every chance I get of course. It’s been an intense and involved process, who knew, including weekly weigh ins and blood tests.will be back with puppy photos in due course.

As much as I’ll miss Mica, I have been a bit stressed aka worrying about an early labour!
Had a dream the other night I came out into the Family room and Mica was in her bed with 10 cream puppies and Arya (who is neutered btw) had 10 black puppies.
OMG.
I was worrying “eek, 20 good names will be hard”.
puppies are likely to be red or gold black fringed (that’s black ear fur) or maybe a tri or two (like Mica). The dads gene for colour is a dominant one.
And can I bore you with “I can feel them wiggling inside Mica hee hee”

So exciting! Fingers crossed that all goes well. Those pics remind me of being 9 months pregnant with an 11lb baby. Lol

So………..
The breeder took Mica to her vet for the usual check and blood test. After waiting in reception for results and paying, Breeder went out to her DH who was on his phone waiting in the car with Mica in the back.
OMG.
Calmly and quietly Miss Mica had popped out one pup and was working on the second….
Current count is 5 puppies!

All doing very well.

Aw how wonderful. My rescue dogs are saluki German shepherd crosses. We have lots of Salukis here and they are wonderful dogs.
