In doing a local search of mountings and anniversary/wedding bands, we found what a jewler called a memoir wedding/anniversary band. It was a very elegant/delicate band of small diamonds, but the diamonds were not channel set. Has anyone heard of these or know where we could find one of these online?

We are looking for a very simple setting with a very simple anniversary band to put with our new setting. Since this is for our ten year anniversary, we thought that complimenting the new diamond with an anniversary band would be a nice idea.

We are also wondering if we should find our setting on the internet and then have them set or if there really isn't a great savings in this part of the buying process.

Thanks for any and all advice.

Well, since you found the setting locally, it might be nice at this point to buy the setting from that jeweler and have him/her set your stone. Then you can go back for cleanings, ring maintenance, etc. Ask the jeweler how he/she feels about setting your diamond and what responsibility he/she is willing to take if your diamond should be damaged in the setting process.

If you know the manufacturer of the ring, you may be able to find it online. Then you can compare prices and see if there is a seller of that setting who will set your stone. You may also be able to find something similar.

Another option is to have a setting custom made. There are some good custom jewelers out there who will work with you.

Thanks for your response. We have not purchased either of these yet. We were just looking for ideas yesterday. Who would you recommend to do custom settings? We found this band at a jewler in the mall, but it was so simple that we had a hard time imagining that it would cost $900.

Thanks Again!:))

There are many jewelers who do custom work that you can find by looking at the vendor table. Just click on the vendor button in the menu above. Good luck! :)
