Is is possible to use an old wedding band to create a totally new one by having them melt it down? would this cost more money or would I actually save money since i wouldn't be having to pay for platinum per ounce? Isn't that how it's calculated typically? TIA!!

I wanted to do this when I remade my ering but was told it was not possible and not cost effective. However, I think Steven Kirsch did this for Frankie?

It's possible but not cost effective as they need to remove the alloy from the platinum. This process costs money and you'll end up with a more expensive piece as compared to getiing a brand new platinum setting. I'll only do it for a sentimental piece. I know Greenlake Jewelery is willing to reuse your old platinum the last time I asked.
