Does anyone use Melatonin? I''m wanting to get better rest at night and cure daytime exhaustion. Wondering if anyone uses it, how many milligrams and how often. Should I take this daily like I would a supplement? How many mg per day? The bottle says 1-3 (3mg) tablets daily, but, is that based on Jetlag? short term use? Educate me!

I will bring this up with my Doctor as well, just wondering if anyone has any experience or advice!

I usually take one 3mg tablet each night before bed. I find it pretty good but it makes my dreams very intense.

I also sometimes take something called X-Dream by IBE which contains melatonin as well as some other ingredients- I find this much better, it is very relaxing, makes me sleep alot more sound and my dreams are more pleasant

I take melatonin a few times a week. I usually take 3 mg right before bed. My Dr. says it''s safe to take up to 4, but I never have. Definitely helps me fall asleep easier :)

I take it sometimes. It DOES make you have some wild dreams.

I would only take it a few nights a week as well. I went two weeks straight taking it, and by the end it was having the opposite effect. I was up alllll night.

I just started using Melatonin in the past month. I take 2 1.5mg tablets an hour before bed. Works wonderfully! Plus I wake up naturally at my normal time(6 ish) with no drowsy after feeling.

I wanted something OTC to help me sleep without too many side effects. I''ve tried the sleep aids that are basically benadryl type stuff, but that would give me restless aching legs and I''d gain a couple of extra pounds. I found out weight gain is sometimes associated with those type of pills but when I searched for melatonin I found no such side effects listed.

So, it''s only been about a month but I''m extremely pleased. I decided to give it a try after reading other positive reviews on a beauty board I belong to.

I take it when I''m having trouble sleeping and I always have some in my travel bag, just in case. I use 1 3mg tablet, try to take it a half hour before bed time. It usually helps but not always. Also in my bag of sleep potions -- good old fashioned warm milk.

Megumic -- is your doctor telling you that up to 4 3mg tablets is OK?

It doesn''t help me but I wish it did! It *should* help you fall asleep but will not help you stay asleep.

No, my doctors recommends up to 4mg total, as a safe dose. I usually take three 1mg pills.

I just picked up a bottle yesterday!

As Lulu mentioned in the other thread, melatonin, in combo w/ vit A has potential anti tumor effects. I just watched a great video on this topic given by a research scientist.

Anyhow, lately I am nervous as all heck, so need a bit more shut eye!
