Hi everyone! I’m so excited to share my new Georgian five stone emerald ring, aptly named Georgia. 8-) I spotted her on Instagram (Jack Weir) and purchased her immediately. She’s of English origin, made in 1810, and inscribed with the initials of her original owner on the inside. The deep, rich color of the step cut emeralds was exactly what I was looking for, and I could not believe the amazing condition this ring was in - it’s 212 years old, after all!!

I celebrated a big birthday at the end of last year, and not long after that I achieved a major milestone at work. To commemorate both of these, I decided I wanted an emerald ring, and the hunt began. I’m a huge antique jewelry buff, but I couldn’t find any emerald rings that felt like “me.” I briefly considered a modern style, but I just couldn’t let myself pull the trigger. It took me 9 months, but when this baby popped up I knew she was the one I had been searching for!

Here is the big photo dump so you can check her out. I’ve been wearing her alone and also paired with other rings - my Victorian emerald and diamond snake ring and Victorian gold band. I can’t pick a favorite finger or stack at this point, so I think I’ll have fun playing with her!!!

Thanks for reading - and would love to hear any other fun ideas for cool stacks I can make with her!!

What a find!! Love the stack with your snake ring!

That's incredible. Love it.

What a stunner! I'm loving your stacks. Would love to see it with something like an engraved gold band too.

Oh my, what a beautiful piece of history! Absolutely love it! :kiss2:

Oh I love it and love how old it is! And indeed she is looking fine!! Enjoy!

Gorgeous!

Oof that pairing with the snake ring and your OMC - killer combo!

She’s also incredibly versatile to fit on various fingers - have you decided which finger will be her home or you’ll switch it up depending on how you feel? :kiss2:

Thank you!! I love how these three play together! It’s definitely sized more for my pointer or ring finger, so I’ll likely switch off on those two depending on the day and the other rings paired with it!

I saw a blog about Georgian emeralds and how rare they are to survive in decent shape. You have a whole ring! I love this time period.
It looks amazing stacked with the snake.

Oooo I need to look this up, I would be fascinated to read more about it! Now I'm going to feel extra pressure not to screw them up after they've survived this long...HA!

Your new ring is gorgeous! Congrats on your birthday and your work achievement!

I'm sure you already know that you'll need to be extra careful with her. Emeralds are not durable, and so much can happen to rings. Don't put her in an ultrasonic, or use chemicals when cleaning, or even let her too hot. (Sorry, I don't mean to be preachy, its just that she's soooo beautiful and has survived for so long.)

Not preachy at all, this is so important! What do you think is best for very gentle cleaning? I appreciate it!!!

:wavey:Hey twosanguinehearts!

Here's a pic of what it says about emerald's care in the GIA Essential Colored Stone Reference Guide.

Basically, a lint free gem cloth, or warm soapy water (usually safe), but no vigorous brushing. However, if the stones are foil-backed, which some gems where in Georgian jewelry (but I don't know about emeralds), then you'll need to consult an expert before getting the ring wet at all. Foil-backed is a whole other set of gentle-care instructions that's above my understanding! (Perhaps @PreRaphaelite will know about foil backing if your ring has it.)

(Hope this is helpful)

Thank you so much!! :D

Snakey says happy Friday. Loving the shade of green on these emeralds! They range in color and transparency, but they all glow and feel so luxurious!

Absolutely gorgeous! It was made to go with the snake band and you’re so lucky you can switch which finger you wear it on :kiss2:
