Lol, I don''t have cable, so maybe that plays into it, but I would much rather see a story about 4 families than EITHER candidate blathering on for 30 minutes. The debates made me want to kill myself by the end, and I agree with you Meresal, that the primaries REALLY turned me off with all of the smugness and negativity. Thank GOD McCain picked Palin and re-energized the democratic base. I was honestly done with politics, and was just going to do my duty on election day.

You are probably right... next time I will drink TWO bottles of wine, one is clearly not enough!

I think it's wack that you guys don't get any ads (although you're very very very lucky). Have you had any visits from either candidate in Texas?

ETA: Want me to tape some and send them to you?

None from McCain, and Obama hasn''t stepped foot in this state since leaving after his Primary celebration party in San Antonio when he won. Hillary was planning on doing her celebration speech from Ohio if she had won, I believe. They were here for about 2 days and gone.

I think I''ll pass on the tapes, my VCR may revolt, but thanks for the offer!!

Quick qestion please:

Just saw this on a local Obama voter support site about helping to get to polling places. They offer up to $50 of free rides from Yellow Taxi.

Here is the "disclaimer" at the bottom?
Voters should take a valid Texas picture I.D. and their Voter Registration Card with them to the polling place. And, they should not wear any Obama gear.

Can anyone tell me why this might be?

I have heard that wearing an Obama or McCain t-shirt or whatever is seen as campaigning and you aren''t supposed to campaign within 50 feet of a polling place. Total hearsay, though!

Yupp - some states have laws against "campaigning" at a polling place. I heard on the radio that a woman in FL went to vote early but was wearing an Obama shirt and was asked to leave.

Freke - are you getting the McCain commercial featuring Biden? It''s bugging me to no end every time it comes on. I''m none too pleased with Biden for saying something that would allow such a byte (I agree that ANY president is going to be tested in the first 6 mos of office because of the foreign affairs climate right now...but c''mon, a politician should know better than to say anything that could be reduced to a clip like that). Anyway, for the commercial, they fuzz out his voice a little so it sounds lower and add spooky music. It''s like they''re not even trying to hide the fact that the commercial is a fear tactic. Insane.
