GORGEOUS! I--too--am leaning towards a cushion cut for an upgraded ring I plan to do and this pix is stunning...WOW! (jaw dropping open, unable to close, eyes being hypnotized by beauty of diamond...)

That''s really neat!

What do you think Maya?

Scintillating...

I love the shape!

It kind of reminds me of a cushette.

Hello - Any thoughts Maya?

Scintillating...

Hi

I am a bit awed by the photo of the diamond - have to remember it is 40X!
23.gif

But I really like the 40X photo. The Ideal Scope image may not be as good as for a RB of the same size, but rectangular stones tend to have light leakage along the sides. Experts please correct me if I am wrong!

Since there isn''t a "Proportions Chart" for a Cushion, it is difficult to interpret the Sarin Report. Based on Radiant and Oval Cut Proportion charts:
The crown height is within the specified limits for a Class IA Oval or Radiant. (13-14.5% and 12.3% to 14.4%)
The girdle is within the limits for a Class 1A cut as well (1% to 3.0% or 1.7% to 5.5%)
It seems as if she doesn''t have a "malthese Cross" or " Bow Tie" Experts any opinion?
I think the spread is great, but then again I have no idea what the spread of an ideal/ premium cut should be. Experts please?

Maybe I should see her in person?

Oh wow! that is a lovely cushion...I think the idealscope looks very spiffy. If you hve questions about cut you can always PM JQ, the man is dead helpful. My opinion though is that is a lovely stone. How do yiou plan on setting it.

I have absolutely nothing to offer on the acceptability of the IS pic except to say that *yes* there is light leakage on the sides. But like Maya, I do remember someone saying that this is normal for rectangular shapes?

But the first pic is very very nice!! I love the shape of the stone. Are you planning to set it East-West or North-South?? I think it would look great set E-W. JMO.
2.gif

ETA: Rectangular shapes.

I wouldn''t worry about the white patches eaither... for what I can tell.

And I surely like the shape! There aren''t many cushions cut like this, right ?

LOVE the stone. Fabulous pic!

The scope image is FABULOUS for a rectangular cushion. FABULOUS! You'll never find a fancy (excluding the h&a fancies) that have the same light return as a round. But that doesn't make it more beautiful than this bad boy! I love the contrast in the stone...I see no cross and no bow tie....Will make for an absolute disco ball...I was out to dinner with a friend with an ideal h&a. The rainbows coming off my fancy and the flashes of light...like a disco ball.... made me soooo happy!

It's very cool b/c the GIA plot has that same modern cushoin pic (which I know is a sample image) but plus the super symmetry.......I think this is a no brainer. Of course, you have to see it but ten bucks says it's amazing.

I love the contrast pattern in the stone.

Thank you Valeria and MMM!

I love the photos
30.gif
as well, but would like to meet her in person before I fall in love totally.

I think I will contact Jamie from Whiteflash and put my name on the stone! We are going away for a much needed vacation and I will only have her deliver the stone in ten days
7.gif
. For the first time ever I will wish a vacation over
9.gif

How to have it set? Oh my...that is a bridge that will be crossed when we get there
33.gif
. I have a Lucida at the moment and love the setting, but maybe it is time for a change? I like the W-prong from WF, a split shank from the Daniel K collection, split prongs, the rectangular Lucida from Tiffany, too many things to combine in one ring
9.gif
...but hubby has veto right on the setting, since he had virtually no say in the diamond
2.gif
and he does not like ornate / pave settings at all!

Maya

Wow, that''s a gorgeous diamond! How are you going to have it set??????

Hi
35.gif

I picked up my cushion yesterday. I was not prepared at all for the turmoil going on inside me at the moment!
32.gif

I have looked at her, put her away, taken her out again, decided to keep her, decided to return her, photagraphed her, asked my husband if he likes her a thousand time...and have not finally decided yet. ( I am leaning towards keeping her)
33.gif

What is it that bothers me? The table, it is quite large. My husband loves the size of the table - he says it is as if you can see into the diamond. At the moment I am not sure if I like it or not.

So trusted Pricescopers, what do you think of her? Honesty will really be appreciated

Thanks
Maya

I think she''s gorgeous!

Maya, that table is SO not large :) I had a princess with a 77 table. That was large LOL
OK, honestly, from only looking at the first picture ***which is not usually a good indicator of how a stone will look in person,*** it looks a bit dark to me...and I can see a large dark cross. I dunno. I just think there are so many great stones out there it would be a shame to settle if YOU didn''t love it 101%.

Like MMM said, if you aren''t 100% satisfied, then I say return it. It isn''t worth you constantly worrying about whether you made the right decision to keep it. Believe me, it will just eat at you unless you are completely sure of your decision.

I realize it can be very difficult to accurately capture the appearance of a diamond on film, but based on what I'm seeing, I'm not totally loving it. I agree with MMM that the stone looks a bit dark, particularly in the first picture. Again, the pictures may not be an accurate representation of the real thing, so take what I'm saying with a large grain of salt. I know how stressful it can be to make this kind of decision. I am not surprised that you're in such turmoil. I'm sure whatever you decide will be the right decision. Good luck!

Hi

OH BOY!
40.gif
Thanks for all your replies and advise. Does everybody know immediately when the stone they are looking at are "theirs" except me? I was wondering if I am having buyer''s remorse and looking for excuses.

Here is what I love about this cushion: The color, the clarity, the girdle, the spread, the shape, no culet....In the sun and in the bathroom she has a lot of sparkle and light flashes.
1.gif

What I don''t like, or is unsure about, is the table size...I am not well equipped to look at stones and have not bought a tweezer. Since I have touched the stone a lot, it seems as if smudges show up more. I wonder if this will be the case when it is set as well or with a smaller table? (Wow MMM, 70% was that before or after joining PS?
2.gif
)

I didn''t even really want to mention it, considering my previous posts, but I don''t really like the dark cross

40.gif
. It is not as pronounced as in the photos. Will this be more pronounced when the stone is set?

I have searched on PS for another stone with the same cut quality and each time the spread is lower. Spread is a big thing to me.

Here are a few more photos - taken in the only sunshine in Seattle all day.

63% table in a cushion is too large? i don't think so.
33.gif

everytime you touch the stone, you will leave smudges on it and they will show up (especially to us eagle eye ps'ers!) a different table size will not effect the visibility of the smudges.
i love the pics in the sunlight

will you miss it if it's gone?

First, I can promise you you're not the only person who has struggled with a decision like this. Some people can say right away, this is the diamond for me; others have to deliberate for a long time. I was tortured by my decision until I actually got the stone set. It can be hard to determine whether the indecision is your gut telling you that it's not the one, or simply...indecision. It sounds like this stone has a lot going for it, but there are a few things about it of which you're unsure. How quickly do you have to make a decision? Have you seen other cushion cuts? This, I think, is important because it will tell you whether the things you don't love about this stone are characteristic of cushion cuts in general or unique to this stone. My friend recently purchased a 1.76 Kotlar cushion cut which has amazing light return, similar to that of an ideal cut round. It is not, however, a very spready stone. Definitely looks smaller for its carat weight. The stone she was considering prior to the Kotlar was a spreadier stone, had great shape, good color and clarity, but not terrific light return. So, for her, it was a trade off. LynnB said something really helpful when I was deliberating about my upgrade: it is unlikely that you will ever find the absolute perfect stone -- all stones have positive and not so positive attributes. It's about finding out which not so positive attributes you can live with and which positive attributes you can't live without. Good luck!!!

I agree- you need to decide what is most important to you and decide if this stone has it...

I do want to mention though that stones are constantly coming out...new ones pop out all the time...I am always changing my mind and like to talk myself into things. I ignore my gutt sometimes...you need to listen to your gutt...

I just don't like dark stones...I can't really tell from the pix...but hubby also thought it was a bit dark...the cross would drive me nuts...I would think it wouldn't get better once set..

My cushion has an awesome spread as well as amazing light return so there definitely are amazing performing stones out there with great spreads...

If this isn't the stne for you (if that's what you decide), you WILL find IT. I was lucky enough to see my stone and I knew instantly. It's not always that easy though..

This is a good ex of a good spread and amazing cut!
I REALLY suggest doing a blue nile search..those stones don't come out on the ps search...they have a HUGE selection of well cut cushions...Blue Nile doesn't own them and any ps vendor can get them for you for less money

No way. The more options are out there, the harder to decide. I love to hold the piece a bit and get used to the idea while considering others, of course.

With the new pictures shown I like your cushion even more for the modern shape... but this is not about me of course, and there are many other sorts of cushion out there.

What do you mean by 'small table' ? When I hear that, I imagine something akin to an old mine cut that also has a high pavilion and lots of 'virtual facets' (sort of bussy sparkle look). Your stone is great, but definitely not near that species.

If the piece at GoodOldGold has the perfect look, than that is an Old Mine Cut (at least the model is, if the stone has been cut yesterday or a hundred years ago is allot harder to tell).

If I remember right, you also wanted a rectangular cushion, which would make finding an 'old mine' style one more like hunting the proverbial needle.

Have you seen THIS at WF ? Just curious - it is yet another unusual cushion (in a good way).

As for a (somewhat) rectangular OMC, barely found one HERE.

Bar strong feelings against its shape, your stone stands its turf, IMO.

If your not totally thrilled, than you should return it. It''s a big purchase, you need to love it!

Just want to let you know that YES IT IS HARD making a decision.

We fell in love with my first stone immediately. However, when i recently had to replace it - I liked it, then didn''t, then got it, then was going to return it. Over and over again (my saga is here on PS).

I ultimately kept my stone, I love it now, and so does my hubby. But it did take a lot of agonizing to get here - so you are NOT ALONE.

Just wondering how you''re doing and if you''ve made any decisions about the cushion??
