May I have some advice please :)

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if I may have some advice on a ring I am considering purchasing from eBay.

It is a 3 stone Princess cut ring with 2 .40ct G SI1 on the sides and an EGL certified 0.76ct H VS2 in the center.

I know EGL isn''t valued highly around here due to being off with colour or clarity, however I''m not one to need a certification. So long as I can''t see any big, black spots and it is sparkly thats all I want

It also comes with a valuation for $10580, but she is selling for $2500.

I know you can''t really go off photos but from what you see, is this worth purchasing?

Just from those pics the cut quality does not look very good on the diamonds. If you want to buy it, ask the selling to meet you are a independent and qualified appraiser of your choice, and have the ring evaluated for cut quality prior to the sale.

I also think that she is aking too much money for the ring. An H VS2 of that weight with an EGL cert costs about $1400 brand new. And a setting with uncerted sides of that size and weight cannot cost more than about $2000. So even new the ring should only cost about $3500. On the resale market rings are generally worth about 50% MAX of what they sell for on the retial market... so I would not pay more than about $1800 for the ring even if the appraiser checks it out as matching what the sellers represents it to be.

I offered her $2000 and she said she wouldn''t go lower than $2500 because "It is a $10000 ring you know!", so I will give it a miss.

Thanks for confirming what I kinda already knew. There wasn''t any "fire" in any of the photos, so I thought the cut quality may have been not that great. Bugga though, it''s exactly what I am looking for

What isd your budget? You can probably get something close for what you want to spend as long as you are realistic. It would guarantee you well cut stones.

My budget at the moment is $2500, but I''m in Australia so with the exchange rate and shipping etc it eats into it a fair bit!
Thats why I''ve been trawling eBay trying to find something like I want in my budget.

Yep! I think thats the go. Plus, this one might have bad karma attached to it lol!

Does anyone know off-hand if the Whiteflash ring comes with the side stones? I didn''t think that it did, but I remember a thread from a few weeks ago and someone mentioned that it does come with side stones and when you do the ring builder application it only lets you add 1 diamond, not 3??! Weird!
