Mask rage???

The issue of anti-masker kids (!) verbally and physically attacking kids wearing masks was one of the plot lines of this week’s “The Conners“ on American TV.

I hope this isn’t really a thing. There are enough selfish anti-masker adults causing problems and killing innocent people. We don’t need their children doing this too.

Hopefully if the kids are going to school the teachers will teach them about the virus and preventative measures
Think about how good, especially little kids are picking up on recycling, anti littering and sustainable themes

The costs associated with those diseases get passed on to others in Healthcare costs, second hand smoke and property damage for clean up etc! I totally agree.

I live in a staunchly blue city. And yet, I see swaths of people not wearing masks. There is no race, age group, gender, or other demographic identifier that seems to separate those that do wear masks and those that don’t.

In fact, almost all densely urban communities are blue in the USA. If they were successfully containing the virus, I’d buy that everyone wore masks. But they aren’t, and people don’t. It varies wildly neighborhood by neighborhood in my city and I can assure that it’s not due to party lines.

There is no need for any of us to add more fuel to a raging, polarizing fire and point the blame \ foist half the nation on the moral high ground
 
Another factor to consider is if the mask is being worn correctly. In the hospital the healthcare providers are carefully fit with their mask. A proper fit is necessary to protect one from Covid 19. Plus the material matters too.

Unfortunately many of us cannot get that proper fit nor get the material necessary that protects from getting the virus.

But wearing any face covering does help protect others somewhat and so is, imo, critical to minimizing the spread.

I think this fact is getting lost a lot of the time.

Mask wearing needs to also coincide with social distancing and good sanitation practices.

Wearing a mask doesn’t mean you can be next to someone in an enclosed space. Sometimes short bursts are necessary like on public transit, but there is a lot of non-essential gathering going on.

I don’t wear makeup under normal circumstances. Many reviews mention it’s easier to breathe with this. That’s what caught my interest. But I don’t know if it decreases the efficacy of the protection against Covid.

LOL :lol: yes, please let us know what you think. The glasses fogging issue is the worst. Sometimes it does not happen and sometimes it does. When it does fog I just want to go home and forget about what I was doing because I cannot think if I cannot see. Does that make sense? Claustrophobia sets in fast when my glasses are fogged up.

The biggest issue with this as I see it is it's one size fits all which works for most but my face is small so I have issues with all the masks that aren't sewn for me by my dh. They are all too big.

At this point I really can say without hesitation I don't care how I look. I need function over form now more than ever. ::):P2 Plus I am not the one looking at me so...:lol:

I get it..I wear two masks on top of each other and my reading glasses on top. It’s not a good look..:lol:
I wear two to keep my kn95 mask clean because I reuse it. I wear my cloth one first and then the kn95 one. It also keeps my glasses from fogging up.
 
I own much more lipstick than jewels! I can’t pass a tube at Walgreens. Who is wearing lipstick right now anyways? Not even me!

MEEEEEEEEE! Even with nowhere to go and nothing to do, I’m not giving up on the personal grooming. :lol: It’s depressing enough to be forced into another lockdown because of the actions of selfish people without being forced to see my own unmade up face.

I totally get it. I can't function either without glasses and am utterly helpless. I am allergic to some aspect of contacts...I can wear them for a few hours, but beyond that they cause so much discomfort so I can't bother. I have literally considered LASIK bc of the glasses / mask stand-off.

I will totally report back...I think I have an average-sized face....so my review may not help, but I will definitely let y'all know!

My poor husband has a big bushy beard and gets the old foggy peepers, so I got him one too! MERRY X-MAS HUBS!!! :lol:

I am praying it works...I have been imagining a worst case scenario where my glasses fog, and the fog freezes over my glasses with little icicles running down my cheeks, and then my face gets frostbitten as I am trying to blindly wrangle my exuberant puppy and slipping and sliding on unsalted sidewalks in the blistering sub zero midwestern temps...what JOY 2020 brings! Gotta laugh about it. :roll:
 
Sorry it's taken so long for me to update. Called the police and without a license plate, they are unwilling to do anything. I'm calling the mall owners now. It's been 36 hours but worth a try for the CC camera footage. I know to get the plate number but the adrenaline crash was disabling me at the time. Sigh.

I bought double sided body tape on Amazon, for my eye-glass wearing DH use to fit his mask better to his face at work. He said it reduced fogging.

That's a great way to make the mask fit better and reduce fogging! Glad it works well for your DH!

I'm sorry @Begonia but focus on the fact you are safe and got away from that maniac. You did all you could under the circumstances. And he will mess with the wrong person one day. (((Hugs))).
 
This makes me very sad.
Growing up I always thought that world peace would only happen when we had a bigger enemy that we all need to fight together. At the time I was thinking *alien invasion* - but this is the same thing just a much tinier alien.
But the world hasn’t come together.
Humans won’t ever just see another human. They will see colour, sex, nationality, religion and politics.

What should be bringing us together is splitting us apart.

The world has an opportunity to change the way we do things and start working together ... instead people want to fight in their grocery store or on the internet.

I can’t comprehend the idea that you would have the opportunity to come together and care about the people around you but you would choose to go against that.

I want to work again, I want to visit family again - I want my life back.... and you wearing a mask is the only chance I have of ever getting that back.
There are so many people worse pff then me. We have a duty to care about ALL humans. Not just our house, our street, our suburb or city.... the whole world.
This won’t change if we can’t all work together.

We were seatbelts because we don’t want to die.
A mask is the same.
If you wear you seatbelt purely because you don’t want to get caught breaking the law please remember - they made it a law because of people just like you.
Choosing to do the right thing by others comes from the heart not from the head.

You're right @missy. It makes me so angry the way he used his vehicle as a weapon to terrorize me. Those are the kinds of jerks I deal with daily not wearing a mask in our terminal, and just ready to engage in a fight about it. Sigh. Be kind, be calm, be safe. Indeed. The authorities must have had intel about the behavior of people in pandemics or similar, to have gotten that motto ready.

Kenny, with all due respect I am a grown woman who doesn't need a lecture from you on how to post. Like it or not, mask wearing has been politicized to the point that it has become dangerous for those who choose to wear masks for health and the safety of others, as this thread so aptly demonstrates.And up is down, and black is white, and nothing makes sense anymore.

Post what you want and I shall do the same.
