Mask rage???

That's why we need a GREAT package from our government, I hope people who are in dire straits don't want to infect granny, grampie, or their kids etc. and yes older people can shelter at home more but not every oldster has money etc. We need a country to care, right now it's all for me and too bad for you mind set.

Read today that a girl from a college who was 19 died of covid, kids are dying too, pregnant women are much more affected, we need a national plan to help ALL

People are frustrated. This sht has been going on for too long. Not everyone is retired with a loving spouse to share the socially restricted day with. People have lost jobs and their livelihoods because of the COVID-19 restrictions.

please post them, anecdotal evidence is not truth.

There was a medical chap in a hospital on the TV the other day with a mask, a face shield and protective glasses - certainly being thorough! :D

On a related note, I think the above highlights one of the main points the 'anti maskers' (if we must label them) raise. Tests and studies showing mask effectiveness (or not) are invariably always done in controlled environments using clean, new masks that are put on properly, not touched during testing, and disposed of after use; however, out in 'the real world', people are using the disposable masks for hours, re-using the same mask for days, stuffing them into their pocket or bag between uses, and generally constantly fiddling with them while wearing them. I think the studies that I have seen that have been in 'the real world' have involved trained medical staff rather than Jo/e Public.

All of such actions must (surely!) increase risk of fomite transmission, and I have read some comments regarding saturated disposable masks (due to extended use) becoming more likely to create aerosols through evaporation (or whatever the mechanism is).

I don't have them to hand but I have seen some interesting graphs showing differences in places wearing masks versus places not wearing masks - although, of course, masks are but one element of the situation that may influence the outcomes.

I wear the mask, but my attitude about it is shtty.

So is mine, honestly. I hate wearing a mask. It's uncomfortable to wear, irritating to remember, and I detest not being able to see half of someone else's face. I'm not going to ask anyone else to be happy about it.

There are many people walking around knowing their refusal to wear a mask during this pandemic is the reason their loved one is dead. I wonder what they have to say about it now.

To me, wearing a mask does get hot and a tad hard to breathe after a while but I can't even imagine having to live with the above.

K. I want to chime in to say that I’m ecstatic about wearing my mask! I really am! I’m used to it. And thanks to it, I get to live my life! I am so grateful! I have traveled, shopped, gambled, visited family—small price to pay—just wearing my mask. I’m always shocked when I see those who don’t but I just avoid them and think to myself—that is how Covid spreads. Hubby and extended family all have their jobs thanks to the fact that they wear their masks

Not entirely sure what to make of your comment, honestly. Glad you’re enjoying wearing a mask, but completely confident you’re in the minority. If everyone would just bloody well wear the dratted nuisances we’d reach the point of not needing them that much sooner and with that many fewer casualties.

I do think wearing a mask in public will become somewhat normalized after this. For people like you who actively enjoy it and might continue to do so after it’s not necessary... As an extra safeguard, or as a fashion accessory. Well. At least in geographies where community health isn’t a political gambit.

Being totally sincere... and yes...I’m surrounded by essentials who are ever grateful that a mask allows them to make a living. And I’ll be happy to wear mine beyond bc I know a lot of people who show up to work or social events fully cognizant of the fact that they have a cold or a flu and insist on hugging, etc. I hope others who read my post can realize that wearing mask actually allows them to live normal lives.

I feel deeply guilty for rolling my eyes at the Asian England language students who i would often see wearing a mask in Wellington's Courtney place
Turns out they knew a thing or two about not catching or spreading germs

omg! I used to be so critical of people who wore these masks at the casino pre-pandemic. Have I been humbled!

Me three.

I travelled a fair amount for work, and not-infrequently saw people wearing masks in airplanes... My immediate and unquestioning understanding was “ill or paranoid” - either way, not someone I wanted to sit anywhere near!

Now... Even after all this is over and we don’t need them... I think most people will happily drop them the moment we safely can, but know I won’t automatically make the same pejorative presumptions about someone in a mask! “Being extra cautious” seems completely reasonable.

Adaptability. Enough said.

@nala and @yssie im so glad its not just me
Ive been feeling really guilty since April
I only hope those people i gave side eye to and their families and friends and communities are covid free today

The government has formerly tried to limit exhaust pipe emissions.. not sure what has happened in the last 4 years.

Lol

Love your very French humour

It said that we'd already be free of that Virus if everyone acted as if they were confirmed positive. If the intellectual and empathetical capacity of a person is insufficient to act for the greater good of everyone else: just act as if everyone else was positive.

This medical professional goes out every day to work with confirmed positive cases.

Maybe that attire speaks for itself then.

A marquise cabochon amethyst.. Circa 5500 cts... Et voila, reported because it should be in the "crown jewels" thread
Crown jewels, indeed. :D
Personally, I rather prefer such high-carat "gems" that are a bit lower on the MOH scale (well before excitation) , and fully-natural.
But I must say, encountering one that has turned purple would give me pause.

I personally do not like wearing masks. This is even though I make them (have made thousands at this point) and have a personal wardrobe of them. I have several 3D masks that have a sew in interfacing which keeps them off the face (thankfully!) I have a little bit of Maskne but its managable and is going away.

I feel like if I gotta wear them, I'll make them to my tastes (I certainly have ) I will be glad when they're not mandatory anymore, by the same token, I'm also glad they do not carry as much of a stigma in the US. (My sister has to wear them because of Leukemia, now she's become invisible so to speak!)

BTW for those who are looking and sewing, spoonflower has 50% off fat quarters.I've ordered a few:shock::roll::lol:
