I jsut bought this spring of Martha Stewart weddings, mostly because the front cover was all diamond rings.
It was interesting, the rings featured.
I''d say about half were emerald cuts or asschers. there were a lot of rounds, but they were all set halo style. There were also what looked liked cushions and OECs, also pretty much all haloes.
There were no princesses, which was a surprise to me, since princesses are so popular in real life, especially with women in their twenties and early thirties.
There were no marquises, from what I remember, which didn''t surprise me because you never see those in high end magazines or on movie stars anymore, unless they are set east-west and in a halo.
There was still plenty of pave, and a lot of sidestones. And everything was still white. I didn''t see a single yellow gold setting. Nor did I see any colored diamonds, though I had an impression that they are now becoming popular.
It will be interesting to see what will be stylish in real life in the next couple of years. I had had a sense for a year or so that princesses are on the way out, though far from gone yet. And that emerald/asscher cuts were replacing them in the second spot.
that is, in the world of ''style''. IRL, as I just said, princesses remain very popular in my area, you hardly see emerald cuts, either IRL or in the stores and you never never see cushion or OEC or Asscher. Well--you do see some OEC, but its all inherited stones when you do. Not something that someone bought themselves.
And two kinds of people seem to like marquise. First (this won''t be a surprise), the older wealthier ladies (40-60) who have really BIG stones in this area, 2 carat and up, all seem to have marquise rings. But second, the very young girls seem to like marquise again now. I am often around teenagers and they say how much they love/would like to have a marquise, because they are pretty and ''unusual''. "not what everybody has". Not EW marquise, either. This group of girls, 13-17 has grown up while princesses were the big thing and I''m guessing they''re having a reaction.
Time will tell.
