Marquise re-set

The saga begins!!! I have posted on here a few times before-- DBF inherited a lovely marquise from his grandmother and he is having it reset for an engagement ring for me!

Backstory: DBF''''s grandmother was an artist and lived in New Mexico. She had this ring made, not sure if she actually designed it or just had the general ideas. You can see some turquoise on the underside, she was very into the Native American culture out there at the time.

I posted the last one sideways because I''m thinking about an east-west halo reset. We are meeting with a jeweler tonight so I''m hoping to have a little more to report tomorrow.

Here are the specs on the marquise:
Approx. 1.05 - 1.25 tcw (may find out more tonight); appraisals we have were done with the stone in its present setting so it was calculated, not weighed
Approx 9.6- 10 mm long x 5.5-5.7 mm wide x 3.2 mm deep.
F-G color
VS-2 clarity
Medium flourescence

Beautiful ring - the turqouise adds a unique touch! For the reset, you might also check out MAChick''s e-w marquise: there''s no halo, but the gallery is beautiful, and you might be able to achieve an interesting effect with micropave ....
