Yeah. James Allen isn't as helpful. They're very quick with communication though. Last couple before I contact GOG. What do you guys think of these:

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/marquise-cut/1.42-carat-f-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-228942
Within budget

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/marquise-cut/1.60-carat-f-color-vs2-clarity-sku-67545
Out of budget (but I can swing it, if its that much more sparkly and better)

Thank Niel for being so helpful! Love this forum already.

I like the contrasty pattern on the 2nd stone more than the first stone.

I'm not a fan of the first one. Seems like a poor performer just east and west of the center. Like its see though.

I would reserve that D, the F you found, ((and maybe that fat E? :Up_to_something: )

Have them review them. they will give you asets, but those are only so helpful with cuts like this. What's most helpful is the opinion of the gemologist who can tell you which performs best, and her opinion on each stone, including if they are eye clean.

Okay,

So I enlisted the help of Whiteflash to help me comb through marquises. I bought this diamond from them (though i can return it, if its not a really good one). Would like some advice on this diamond. Thanks! =D

Specs are 1.22ct, G, VS1. 11.16x5.48x3.52 (2.04 l/w ratio), polish/symmetry - VG, florescence - faint.

Hi! Yes, it will be. Waiting for daughters bf to contact me when he feels that he has enough for ring. If up to him, he would get ripped off at a mall store. My daughter wants a marquise shape and has put me " in charge"!

Great decision! :naughty:

I quite like the second stone! Very pretty. =)

OP, how is the marquise going to be set? N-S or E-W?

One of the most beautiful rings I've seen was a marquise set E-W in a bezel...

I was going to ask about the setting as well...

It's gonna be a custom N-S setting (one of the reasons why I chose to go with WF). I'll post pictures of it once the CAD comes in. =)

solitaire?

The second stone is a beauty!

Can anyone help me with how the ASET on the diamond looks? Good? Decent? Should I be looking at other diamonds? Thanks!

Asets for marquise and stuff are so hard. They usually don't look as good as you old and dont tell the whole story. What did Whiteflash say? Do they think you could do better. I'd ask them honestly, as someone's eyes on the stone are going to be the most telling

I agree with Niel,
I think that the stone looks beautiful in the pic but with fancies, you really have to eyeball it yourself. Is it possible to do this?
