Marquise halo inspiration, please

An exciting project Neil. I like the 6th one Rocky posted. Very sleek. I have a yellow stone I'm having a bezel removed from (closed off the stone too much)& adding prongs. I would definitely set it in a yellow head & add a cup (even if you go 1/4 - 1/2 way down the basket).

Here are a few I've saved in my inspiration file.

I started to put some thought into this design as you can see. LOL LOL I thought to combine this with the side detail of the 1st pic (Ruby Marquise).

Can you set a diamond into a collet setting so the girdle is above the metal bezel? Asking for a friend

Wow, love this and yes it's possible which and didn't know until I had a small OEC I have set into a bezel/collet style. I think historical examples of this kind of setting are sometimes called rub over/collet setting and would have made direct contact with the girdle but on my reproduction I can see the girdle hovering every so slightly above the metal. Attaching some pics here-- I can try to get some better pictures of the girdle later.

I like that last one you posted!
The collet styles I’ve seen have always been a bit wide. Maybe one of the trades can answer your question about how thin a collet setting can be made or email the vendor who’s making your ring. Another thought, I wonder if a faux collet can be implemented much like a faux bezel can be done.
If you choose to go with the setting you posted, it’s very pretty. What shape are the side stones, pears or is it a pattern? I like the white melee with my yellow stone, makes the colour pop.

For some reason these two really stood out to me

The side detail is just pave

Halo with more texture.

I think you are heading vintage, but I thought posting a few contemporary options might be fun (I'm home with a sick kid...boring).

Oh man that’s really not my style. But you’re right I do love 80s things.

Now not exactly but this is the closest I’ve found to the image in my head of a gold collet with a halo around it. Extra points for it having a pointy diamond.

I’m aware I’m the only one following this but it’s helping me keep my images in order

Yeah I’m pretty familiar with this setting I don’t think I’d like it with a colored diamond

BOOOOOO! LOL ;)

I love that setting too FancyGems. I agree with Niel, I like the ring in all white diamonds. And I am not a fan of bezels. But in this ring, the bezel with no prong and no space really make this ring look fluid.

I saw you posted hand shots in another thread - in my opinion, the ring is GORGEOUS as it is. Would you consider leaving it in the original setting? The stone is so large and has so much presence that I think a halo would be overkill.

No.

It’s poorly made, cannot be sized to my finger size, and does nothing for the stones color.

I think this ring is the closest example to the halo idea I have in my head. The photo is small- but you can see the stonen is set almost like a collet- held by the prongs- and has a baby little airline

What about this one?

Bezels could easily be swapped into prongs.
