I have a marquise diamond FLBY 2.21 ct

She needs a new home and I am not sure exactly what I’m doing with her. Anyone who “knows” me on here knows I’ve got inspiration photos for days. Bit as I’ve got all the inspiration pics in the world and still can’t decide- I’m crowd sourcing some lol. I am stuck between the idea of a more “antique” halo or a more “80s retro” halo. I’ll post some of the things I’m liking currently

Requirements are firm :
I will NOT be bezeling her (so don’t suggest msop’s halo)
The shank will be yellow gold.
It will be in a halo.
It will not be set e/w

Do I want diamonds in the shank ??

I like the second one more. The halo prongs are tucked in more and don't stick out like the top example. And I'm a sucker for a more antique feel. Love the tiny split shank.

All that to add that I love it as is. Wow what a stone!!

I would not focus on the prongs as they won’t look like any of my inspiration photos - except maybe the turquoise. There will be lots of them.

The setting it’s in is very shitty and does nothing to accentuate the color of the stone.

I really like the last one and think something along those lines could be marvelous! Yes, definitely a white halo. You do the best projects!

I really love how the YG shank of the ruby inspiration ring and white halo sets off the color of the diamond when seeing them paired together.

Obviously not to scale but you get the visual. Imagine it with some rich YG claws ... :Up_to_something2:

See idk the white doesn’t do it for me I don’t think. Though I agree it would likely make the stone pop.

This really gives me feels

What a gorgeous marquise! I love this pear that you just posted and think your stone would be beautiful set this way.

I adore this!!! Gorgeous diamond, Niel!!! Will give this some thought, but I am always going to prefer the white diamonds in a halo to be held in white metal. The contrast really helps the center stone. My new ring is a good example!

Are gemstones of any interest? I'd choose sapphires, but rubies might suit. Pay no attention to the bezels here.

See idk this doesn’t do anything for me

Nothing wrong with a plain diamond halo if that's what you like!

I agree - this would be glorious on your finger. Makes the typical smooth halos or slightly scalloped halos seem pedestrian for THIS project...

How about this? I quite like it with your yummy
Marquise!

Gorgeous stone! Just a couple of antique inspired halo ideas for you, but in yellow gold and with prongs.

I love dramatic look of this double halo if it could somehow be modified to fit a marquis.

Of those posted, I ADORE these... top for antique, bottom for timeless! This is gonna be one hell of a ring!! I'm pumped!

@Niel, are you going to cup it or do something underneath to play up the yellow tone?

Don't have an image but I have seen beautiful halos using rounds and marquise together in very high end pieces.

This is a very beautiful & very big stone! I honestly don't know how you find them??!

I would go ALL yellow.

I think, and I maybe wrong, that @junebug17 has a FLY pear cut, in lovely rich 18ct yellow gold with a delicate halo of more yellows. I can see the ring in my mind clearly, so hope I've tagged the correct beautiful hand for you?!

Can you set a diamond into a collet setting so the girdle is above the metal bezel? Asking for a friend

E9164951-7184-42E4-AE79-5FC074BD00C0.jpeg I don’t mind this two toned version

756CE4F6-330C-4B85-B143-7E7A1D8D1EEC.jpeg This does give me feels but I just don’t think my baby can withstand the bezeling

Well, you know IIIIIII love this! ;)2

But I really love the other two I posted more... but of course I do. :halo:

What do you mean by saying it couldn’t withstand the bezeling? Like, structurally, or do you mean it would be a bigger look than what you like? Wait... is there such a thing as too big?? :P2

Halo with more texture.

I think you are heading vintage, but I thought posting a few contemporary options might be fun (I'm home with a sick kid...boring).
