I'm just wondering if anyone out there could help me select an marquise cut stone for my engagement ring. I absolutely love the marquise cut, but don't know what proportions I should be looking for. I have been trying to source a stone on the Blue Nile website (in England).

http://www.bluenile.com/uk/

I would be happy with SI1 or SI2 and nothing more than color I, because I am color sensitive. My budget for the stone alone is £3000 and I can't go above that.

If anyone had the time to pick out a few possibilities, I would be extremely grateful.

thank you in advance.

I will say that you will not be able to choose fancies from Blue Nile. You need to be able to see the stone, or at least see IS/ASET images for fancies.

Yeah there's a few reasons you can't buy this from blue Nile. You want a low clarity stone, I assume you want it eye clean. You'll want to be able to see the stones to make sure they are. Yes blue Nile will show you photos sometimes. But how many will you need to get before you find one you like? Could be too many.

Second you won't be able to tell the performance of the stone.

Are you willing to buy from James Allen?

This may not be eye clean, but marquise hide inclusions well.

I like this one but you'll have to ask them if it has any negative effects from the fluoresce

this is the third one i like, id ask them if they can get you ASETS of all three

Thank you so much for your help Niel.

I like the look of the first one....very cautious about stones with fluorescence (but that's just me). That site has some really lovely settings too!

many thanks...

I like the first one too as long as you could get over that beauty mark. It's 10x5 so it looks like a 1ct, and could fit stock settings if you could go that route. I don't know if James Allen still offers stuller settings, or if there's a jewelry near you in the UK that sells them, but if either of those are true that's another option
