Mark Morrell's Orchid, princess cut, halo ER....!!

Been on this forum for a while and had a previous work done by Mark for my wife's ER and earrings I turned to Mark again to do an engagement ring as a gift for my daughter Amira (means ... princess), I looked on his website and I saw a ring on his doodle section that I liked, he calls it Orchid ring, and it was supposed to be for a blue lab stone that has an octagonal shape with a halo in platinum accented with red gold, I contacted him and asked him if the CAD of the ring is still available and he said yes, the original project did not go through.

Fitting the square Princess cut to the octagonal halo was the modification to the original drawing which sets the center stone in a bezel:



The center stone is Solasfera Princess Cut from GOG, 0.71 (4.81 x 4.77 x 3.67mm) that will not suffer from light deprivation a bezel setting may impose:

After having the diamond shipped to MM from GOG he sent me the Drawing and we will proceed with the project for ring size 5.




Mark offered delicate ring but my daughter likes it the way it is...He agrees since it looks good.
We will proceed with the project and will see the final result ...
I expect it to be spectacular like MM always does, above and beyond....!!

I told my daughters ( I have three ) that I will buy each of them a ring when they are engaged.
Her fiancé is arranging for something else but this is my gift for her in her engagement.
It is a habit we have overseas (Originally from Syria) to gift our daughters a jewelry piece when they get engaged and married.

@Doc_1 - thank you for finishing this thread and showing us all where you landed. As well as this, tho, finished pieces go in the Show Me The Bling forum. Do you think you could start a thread there and put up this video and any other info you choose to share? There are many people out there who I can imagine are looking for a ring such as this, and they'll never find it in Rocky Talky.

I have seen many MWM rings and each one is a work of art. This one stands out as an incredible design. My initial fear was the ring would look heavy as the CAD images look rather bulky, but the final ring looks elegant. Few jewelers can match the MWM ability to make it right. Very impressive and such a nice story of this gift from inside the family. We learn about the world sometimes.
