I will admit, i pefer the chubbier ovals, ans you can probably tell by my selections. Notie how the .91 isnt that much smaller than the E, and is a bit less chubby.

I wasnt wowed by the options they showed you.

did you see they have a sale on settings??

Perfect! Thank you for the additional suggestions, Niel! No, I hadn't seen their sale. To be honest, I don't even have a setting picked out at JA yet (though perhaps I'd want to get the setting done somewhere else).

I've requested ASETs for the three ovals that you suggested, and we should hear back within a few days.

Are the two you selected even eye clean? I'd eliminate the 1.07 you picked because of the surface reaching inclusion/feather I can see at the 12.00 position (look carefully at the top of it). And the 0.91 has a big inclusion that probably is going to be visible 6.00 position right on the table without even getting into the lack of depth of one and the so so cut of both.

I'm like Niel I prefer them cubby it might be worth emailing/calling GOG and see what they could call in for you (you might have to pay a fee for this). Here are two stunning ones (one longer, one cubby);

The first one Neil picked is still the best one so far.

Yeah, I agree, the first one Niel picked out is quite impressive :-). And thank you for the video, it was really helpful to get a better sense of what a well-cut oval is like. I'm a little worried because I know my girlfriend liked the videos of AVRs that (as best I can tell) showed bigger flashes of light and I feel like ovals give smaller (but more frequent) flashes of light. Is that true? What's the difference in scintillation between a MRB and a well-cut oval?

I'm glad to hear that you think a round in an oval can be done :-), but I'm still a little worried about how it would turn out. Hmm!

I had this oval here to play with for a while. It was a lovely stone with very nice performance for an oval. http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/1.13-carat-g-color-vs2-clarity-sku-171378

It should be back in stock later this week.
Ok, great, I'll keep my eye on it!

Thanks for all the help, everyone! I really appreciate it!! :-) :D

If I did decide to go for a round instead of an oval, one of the rounds I've been keeping an eye on has been this one:

If anyone has any time, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks again! :-)

Nice pick!

I would just check with BGD to see if the crystal on the table is an issue. Normally they have a video, but this stone does not. Make sure it is eye-clean to your standards.

That stones features my favorite 'flavor' of fluor, as well.

Oops, you're right, I should have mentioned that I already asked BGD and it does indeed appear to be eye-clean :-).

Beautiful stone!

Does she like Antique stones? AVRs and OECS look nothing like Ovals at all. Totally different scintillation pattern big chunky flashes of light versus finer flashes.

Just throwing this out there, Grace from Jewels by Grace and Erica too possibly from Love Affair Diamonds (I know Grace is there, don't know about Erica) might be able to get a Roval or an Antique Oval for you, (Grace is currently at a huge Antique fair and might even have purchased an Antique Oval), like Yenny's ring on the first page which I linked as one of my favourite ovals. If you get the right one there are Antique ovals or Rovals (more rounded shaped oval) that would have the shape she likes plus the big broad scintillation pattern she is admiring in the AVRs.

You might need to show her pics of a few first to make sure she really likes them. There are also cushiony and slightly ovally shaped (off round) OECS that again have more of the shape you desire with the big broad flashes of light.
