Hello all, i have just purchased an e-ring from dirtcheap and the diamond is pretty much perfect. First off i'd like to just say that jennifer at dirt cheap was very helpful and comfortable to work with and i'd recommend them to all. First let me post the stats of the diamond

GIA

.80 RB
G/VS1
6.04-6.07x3.65
D: 60.3%
T: 56%
p.angle: 40.6
c.angle: 34.2
girdle: thin to medium, faceted
culet: none (although the sarin e-mailed to me said 1.2%)
pol/sym: ex/vg
HCA: .5

My first ? is what is all this i hear about people being happier with something more near the 1.5 range for HCA? I have the no ?'s asked 10day return still going for me, and i mean i know its all what we "think" and "see" as beautiful, but if these stats were just a little different and the HCA was 1.5 for example, would it sparkle more? The diamond right now is awesome, but it by no means sparkles in little light indoors like i've heard and seen some do, even though it says that light return is EX. Like in the "show me the ring" forum, some brag(and rightfully so)about their diamond sparkling in the lowest of light. The sparkling is the fire right? Mine blows up in full sun, but in low light i want it to catch all the light that it can and it just seems like it doesn't.

Second, the setting i picked it out is also perfect, but i've now realized that i have to send it out to get it stretched 1/4-1/2 a size bigger, and also, the diamond is not perfectly level. By this i mean when viewed from the side you can tell the point(culet, or lack there of) is off to the side just a tad.....but enough to notice. And once i noticed that, i started to wonder if it's cuz the point is off center, or if the diamond is a bit crooked in the setting, either way it is kinda buggin me, should i mention that when i send it to get it stretched?

Thanks for your thoughts/comments. And just one more shout out to DCD.........SHOUT.

Hi there,

Can I ask what you paid for the ring?

Sounds like you got a beautiful diamond!!

I would suggest you contact DCD with your concern about the setting of the diamond. The Vendors are human, and sometimes things slip out that normally are caught prior to shipment. Generally issues that are resolved quickly with a simple fix. DCD has a great reputation and has stood behind their products and services in the past. They will make the situation right. Just give them a call.

hello,
Like you said, not everyone will like stones in the 1.5 HCA range..and some wont like those in the .5 range...its up to you and your eyes. However, almost all will agree that you cant go wrong with anything under 2 so im sure yours is a beauty! As for the setting, if you think its a tad off, then let them know, and im sure they will be more than happy to fix it for you. DOnt worry too much, im sure its stunning and please, post pics!

If DCD did the setting for you then contact them with your concerns. I'm sure they will work to make you happy. I recently bought a pear shaped diamond from them. It's gorgeous and I've gotten so many compliments on it. I feel like the price I paid for was outstanding but for the first couple of weeks after I got it I nearly drove myself crazy checking out other diamonds, wondering if my diamond was all it could be, was truly in the "ideal" catagory they had it grouped in, if I should have spent more for another stone, better color, different clarity, etc. etc. etc. The bottom line for me now is this: I still love the diamond, I still look at it all the time, still feel like I got a great price on it and overall am very satisfied.

Don't worry about the diamond sparkling in all lights, heck, mine seems to change in its light performance everyday or at least my perception of its performance changes. Are you happy when you look at it? Satisfied that you got all that you wanted? Feel like you got a good price? That's really all that matters. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.

yeah, you know, the more i look at it(about 10 times a day) i know it's pretty much perfect. And it's only because i've done sooo much research on this site over the last few months that i'm even second guessing anything. Don't get me wrong, the diamond is GORGEOUS, it's so clean and crisp, and it DOES sparkle, i just want something that doesn't exsist.....i want it to glow in the dark

I think i have let a lot of digital pictures of rings get to me and i have to realize that those pictures are most likely taken in max. lighting conditions and that the specs of fire (on my ring) if taken with a camera would be just the same if not better. And actually as i look at the diamond right now, it's perfect, and yeah, i got a great deal, and yeah, i've done 100X more research and know 1000X more about diamonds now than my girlfriend does(this is not to say that i will not want to show her this forum after i propose and teach her everything i know because diamonds and everything i've learned is truly fascinating).....basically my girlfriend will love it no matter what, and even more because she isn't really looking at it as analytically as i am. OK, i could go on and on, but thanks for the comments.....yeah, i'm sure DCD will fix the setting, i'll contact them ASAP.

Oh by the way....it was $3461 for the diamond, and the appraisal that accompanied the ring was like $6200, wowsers!!

And yes, i will post pics as soon as i buy a digital camera.....the next big purchase in my life. It's funny though, cuz me and my girlfriend have been together for over five years and we are as open with each other as you'll find. So needless to say we have talked about marraige a BUNCH. It's funny cuz everytime i bring up that i want to by a dig. camera, she tells me that i have to buy her "something" first implying a RING. But now i have to buy the dig. camera to post pics, and not want her to know i bought the ring, obviously....can you say dilemma.

Thanks again.
