Maria D|1352306835|3300545 said:I guess the difference with the Maine situation is that gay marriage is now legal here because the populace has voted to make it legal, as opposed to the populace upholding legislation (as was done in Maryland and I believe Washington). In 2009, our then governor signed a bill legalizing same sex marriage but then it was overturned through referendum. This year, it was voted in as a straight question, not as approval/disapproval of a bill passed in the legislature.
It's a subtle difference, but enough of one to make we Mainers who supported it all along run around saying We're first! We're first!![]()

Next, we have to eradicate discrimination and bullying in schools of perceived differences, as gay kids - or kids who are perceived as Gay - are STILL targeted.
