Let just start out by saying that around 2 years ago, I caught a bad case of Mahenge madness; much to all of the good people over at CS's chagrin. I finally found a precision cut Gene Mahenge that scratched my itch. It is gorgeous and I wore it with pride. That one will soon be going on to a loving new home however, because I now have - the HOLY GRAIL of Mahenges.
During my quest, I put a lot of feelers out to gemstone sellers telling them how desperately I wanted the "perfect Mahenge spinel," and much to my surprise, Jaimeen at Prima Gems was still looking out for me all these years later (this should really tell non-CSers how hard it is to find the perfect color). Out of the blue on Thursday he sent me an email, subject like, "I FOUND THE PERFECT SPINEL FOR YOU!!!!" With that kind of excitement, of course I had to take a look at it. He told me that it was already set by one of his jewelers, but I could see the whole thing and if I liked the stone I could just by the stone, but if by chance I liked the setting, I could by that too (oh did I mention I'm also "instant gratification gal?"). Of course being that I already had my beautiful Gene Mahenge I actually hoped that it wouldn't be perfect, but when it came in on Friday - I heard the angels singing. So now, without further ado, I present:
