Mahenge Garnet help

I recently inherited this piece and think (I’m not sure) that it’s a Mahenge Garnet.
I estimate it’s between 7-10 carats.
Nice raspberry red color.
Clean. I see just a few things under the loupe but not much.
Set in 18k Gold.
Would anyone know if this is a Mahenge Garnet and if I’m wrong what it may be exactly?
Is it valuable enough to send off to GIA or are these gems not worth a lot.
Either way I like it and hope to wear frequently as garnet is my birthstone.

Mahenge is the location so I don't know how you are able to figure out the origin. Considering the size, it is worth a decent amount but not something I would sent to GIA unless I plan to sell it.

I thought perhaps Mahenge simply because when I researched it the pictures I saw seemed very similar to mine.
I’m still researching garnets which appear to have very many different kinds
Almandine Pyrope Rhodolite Malala etc…it’s overwhelming!

I agree with chrono... difficult to say where the stone was mined just by looking at it (unlike maybe a Vietnamese spinel or Burmese ruby, etc.). But she sure is pretty! And what a great size. I love the simplicity of the piece with the single diamond on top. One thing you can be almost certain of is that this stone is likely a pyrope-almandine (rhodolite is a member of that garnet family). Enjoy!
