I''m back not only to help my daughter''s BF with their ring but also trying to fix the mistake I made in selecting the mounting for my ring also.
I have been so disappointed with the mounting I selected. I''m going back to the original plan of matching eternity style bands that sit flush. Only I think I''d be more comfortable 3/4 around.
I can''t figure out what size side stones and which way to set them. I''ve asked this before and I spent hours drooling over the rings posted in the "Show me the Ring: Eternity bands" thread which led me to believe that I need to be careful with what size sides will look proportioned and still satisfy this yearning for more bling. Am I being tastelss?
My stone is a 2ct round from WF.
I have large, sort of short fingers and wished I could have upgraded to a 3ct or even a 2.5ct but DH was having a fit. Point is thicker and larger looks better on my hand.
Would 15pt side stones be large enough? I''m not looking for a pave look. I need coverage without shrinking the center stone. Originally I thought 20pts. Every time I go to a store I like the 20 - 25pt eternity mountings but I think this may be too big.
Next question: Is one method of holding the side stones more durable than another? I like the "U" basket with petite prongs, or I''ve seen a solid basket like "Memoir" makes. I prefer the open basket styles for the side stones to capture the light and make cleaning easier but this could be more fragile. The most important aspect of the setting is a low profile. I have tried on eternity styles that sat very low and had decent size accent stones. They were very comfortable which puzzles me because some I try on feel just awful.
I tried attaching a picture of my current setting and it didn''t work. I have the picture in a file but I got an error message to resize which I''m not sure I can do since the picture was emailed me from another computer. I''ll figure it out eventually.
