Hmm, I think we might be able to convince Lori to buy it....![]()
It's not very neon for a cuprian, but it's a much nicer and more bright blue than most aquamarine you see out there, which has a distinct grey mask. Of course the price reflects this because it's inexpensive. Neon cuprians are very expensive. If you want a nice aqua, but you don't like the grey mask, these lighter cuprians are really beautiful.Date: 5/26/2009 9:28:26 PM

Well, I hear PS people get 30% off, which would make this 552$, which is only 220$/carat for a paraiba tourmaline...not too shabby I don't think. Hehe...
What do you think about the stone TL?
Allmost all neon paraiba are heat treated. To find them not heat treated is almost impossible. When they were first mined in Paraiba, Brazil, those were natural in color, but now most have to be heat treated to bring out the neon color. Even heat treated, the top quality color is worth around $20,000/ct. The pear above is not top color. The top colored ones are from the first strike in Brazil back in the late 1980''s. They looked like deep blue kryptonite (like you see in the Superman movies) and I''m not kidding or exaggerating at all.Date: 5/26/2009 9:49:10 PM

A good neon non heated paraiba is going to cost more than $1400/ct. I''d be cautious with something so clean, supposedly great colour AND unheated.Date: 5/27/2009 12:25:07 AM

What if you can find a non heated paraiba? Worth getting for 1400 a ct? Strong greenish blue, light tone, strong saturation. VS clarity
Beautiful stone, if only it had one less zero in the total asking price.Date: 5/27/2009 12:01:41 AM

Too small for that price point. I'm not crazy about it for that price. Not a lot of bang for the buck. I do think that although some Paraibas are beautiful, that particular one is overpriced for what it is. Although they are beautiful stones, we must remember they are simply heated tourmalines, and can easily chip as well because of the fact that they're both a tourmaline (not a super durable stone) and heated (heating also adds to their fragility). I wouldn't want to chip a stone that expensive per carat.Date: 5/27/2009 12:01:41 AM
