Loupe Troop is currently down, for a new version to be deployed on 01 July 2024 according to the error message.

Would anyone know how long for please as I need to update my current listings and to add some new ones?

Thanks in advance.

DK :))

So strange that an hour ago it worked for me and now it doesn’t. Disappointing when it’s down.

Its up and down more than my middle-aged hormones and that is saying a lot

Hopefully it will be back up soon, it seems it’s been down for a while.

Loupetroop has been down for me for a couple of days.

Diamondbistro is also down for me as of today.

5:00 p.m. where I am and it's still down on July 1, 2024

Loupe Troop is down more than it is up. Not sure what the problem is but it is frustrating!

DiamondBistro has been gone for weeks/months. I think it's gone for good - it was hosted by BetterThanDiamonds, and other than having a few Amora Gems that they still have left over in inventory for sale, it appears they're not really a functioning entity anymore (although I don't know that for certain).

I wonder if it's time for us to find another platform to post sale items and contact info. This is immensely frustrating. There were items for sale that I'm very interested in, and items that I really need to put up for sale as well.

Are there any other places that people have used to sell??

I have been an active ebay seller for over 20 years and I am using it less and less. Ebay - and also etsy or other marketplace type websites - are really great for safety, compliance issues and vetting. Also great for international purchasing. It is basically an escrow service. But it has gotten so expensive that I have to increase my pricing just to break even and most of the time I have a loss. They also have very complex rules and marketing systems that are hard to understand and again, costly. I am sure alot of us here use ebay but I am curious to hear what other sellers think.

I appreciate gingers offer to create an Instagram page but many of use here probably don't even use Instagram. lol Same would apply to Discord servers etc.

Other than that I have no solution except to create a small website and collect the ads.

A reminder that we do not allow people to post social media handles here, hence IG is not a viable option for selling on Pricescope. This is for everyone's safety as we cannot monitor social media accounts to make sure they are truly private.

Hi everyone. I am also really frustrated by LT being down for updates for long periods of time multiple times a year. I do not want to offer or say anything inappropriate or offensive but I would be willing to create and maintain an instagram page for pricescope sales. I could take submissions for listings/posts to this new instagram page via Google Forms and I would be responsible for making new listings and removing sold listings from the page based off submissions via Google Forms and emails that I receive. People would fill out the form with their item’s description, price, contact email, and pictures and/or videos of the their item. This would take a decent amount of time to maintain so I would have to charge a small fee ($2 per listing). I would be happy to do this and I think it would eliminate issues of a website that constantly goes down for updates and a website that gets spammed. If this is something that people are interested in or not interested in, please let me know!

Contact them directly or report your own post to do so to ask what’s allowed here vs not, I think would be prudent.

A few members have offered to start a different version of selling platform as an alternative to LT when periodically this update/down comes up, but as far as I’m aware - none actually have.

I was not advertising or posting a specific instagram account. I was just saying that this is something that I would be capable of doing if there was a desire from the community for such a page on instagram.

It is really frustrating when we have things for sale, but none of the sites are working, so there's no way to contact us. I'd love to learn about alternatives. I don't want to sell directly through my eBay account as I'm using a third party as an escrow service.

This is such a frustrating situation! I've waited months for the green light to pull out the stops on helping my son source a sapphire engagement ring. Green light happened on Monday and here we are with no LT! If someone finds an alternative, I would support it. Is Poshmark against PS rules? Thank you

Folks, we appreciate that everyone is frustrated that these sales venues are down, but we do not allow social media handles or posts here. Such high value items being posted and folks do not realize how quickly someone can find your house to burglarize from social media posts. We try our best to make sure everyone can share safely here.

Additionally charging even a small fee would result in that user needing to register as trade. Something to keep in mind if someone else decides to create a website like loupetroop.

DiamondBistro is now Louped. IMHO what made DB popular is gone and now it feels to me like an Ebay site with buy it now prices. That 20k aquamarine ring? No thank you.

I had a quick look 10-20% commission to sell on Louped?! Consider that a good majority of PS’ers are not making money on their listings, in many cases they are taking a loss. Then you have to pay commission on top of that, not worth it IMO.

Let’s hope LT isn’t gone for good.

Hmm. Maybe a private Facebook group? Someone(s) would need to be the owner I think, and folks would need to request to join but I think groups have places to post comments/ads? Not really sure as I’m not a big Facebook person myself but I have friends who swear by their local groups that donate/sell things in their neighborhoods.

One thing to consider is that official Marketplace type sites like FB, Ebay, Etsy etc. have an obligation to issue 1099-k tax forms if you sell over a certain amount (in certain states as low as $600 and there is new legislation coming this year).

Many here sell with Paypal Friends and Family and that will be an issue then.
Of course all of us should be tax compliant and I am not judging. Just want to mention the implications of certain websites.

I shall be patient and wait for LT to come back, and shall write the listings for the items I intend to sell while I wait.

I have a GIA graded loose oval blue sapphire I would part with. I believe it is 5 x 7 MM and can look for the paperwork if you are interested. It’s been in my safe for over 3 years and not sure when I will set it. I may still have it up on LoupeTroop.

Louped is not the former DiamondBistro; it's the former I Do, Now I Don't. I agree that everything there is horribly overpriced. I'm fortunate that I picked up a couple things there a few years ago for excellent deals that are gorgeous, high quality, and now core items for me, but I can't imagine buying anything there now. My understanding - which could very well be wrong! - is that while I Do, Now I Don't was a terrific platform in the earlier days for buyers, it was not good at all for sellers, and to "fix" that, rather than reducing the truly exorbitant fees they charged sellers, the platform owners convinced sellers to pass those exorbitant fees on to their buyers.

I definitely wouldn't be comfortable with a FB group because of the whole jewelry thing. I'm definitely team it needs to be reasonably anonymous.

IDNID was such a great idea and such a flawed execution. A whole lot of crap with sky-high prices, with only the rare decently-priced thing.

By charging a fee, do you mean we couldn't post on ebay without being considered trade?

It would be for the person running the website, if they charged fees to list they would need to come on PS as trade members per the policies.

Folks, please read our policies, we don’t allow linking to other forums or social media for everyone’s safety.

Those policies will not be changing anytime in the near future.

Pieces will continue to need to be listed with an official resale website of some kind.

Who runs LT?
