I purchased a beautiful engagement ring from WhiteFlash a little over a year ago and today my fiancee noticed that a pave stone fell out (the diamond was set in one of WF's Legato sleek line settings).

What would be the best way for me to get this repaired? Should I go straight to WF? What's the normal way to proceed?

The ring is covered by Jewelers Mutual if that matters.

I'd be happy to provide any additional information if needed. Thank you all for your time. I greatly appreciate your feedback!

I would contact your WF sales associate immediately. Good luck!

For one stone I wouldn't use my jewelry insurance. Even if it's not under warranty still with WF then it's still a cheap fix (like 40 bucks max).

Would the premium go up if I file a claim?

It could. I've even heard of policies being cancelled/not renewed after two claims. I personally would only use my insurance insurance due to significant damage or loss.

+2

Never make a small claim for a repair. I would only make a claim if my whole ring was lost/stolen or the diamond was hit and cracked and had to be replaced.

It may not be worth sending back to WF (shipping costs) if you have a really high end jeweler in your town that has a good bench jeweler. But I would call and see what they say.

Understood about the small claims and insurance, thank you all.

After speaking to someone at WF, it sounds like it would potentially cost about $150 for shipping (~$75 each way) plus the cost of repair...that sounds extraordinary...is this typical for people who seek out WF to repair?

I could take it to a local jeweler - my issue with this is that the tiny diamond they'll use won't be an ACA diamond like the rest of them on the ring.

Is this completely irrational?

How about buying a replacement ACA from WF & having the local jeweler set that?
