i am absolutely heartbroken. i was getting ready to go out to buy some groceries with my mom in the morning 2 days ago when i went to my jewlery box to put on my earrings and ring (not my engagement ring, a ring my fiance bought me 2 years ago) when i couldnt find it! everything else was there except my ring! my heart started to beat really fast and i quickly looked everywhere...but still couldnt find my ring. i searched all day and night and when i finally talked to my fiance and told him, i was in tears. he told me it was ok and that if its lost there is nothing we can do and to make me feel better he said that wasnt even our engagement ring and that our engagement ring is safe with him. i feel so awful. so because i didnt eat all day because i was freaking out, he told me to make some food while he started work (he lives and works in asia while i live in vancouver) so i popped a chunky soup into the microwave ... and the next thing i know, i was feeling sick. i then had to go into the emergency room and was told i had food poisoning.. what an awful awful day.

ive been looking everywhere and i cant find it.... what should i do? my fiance is not mad or has not blamed me but i cant get rid of the guilt.

i need advice ... please help

So sorry to hear!

Losing jewelry has happened to most if not all of us. I know I can certainly relate as I've lost some near and dear pieces myself. It's heartbreaking and terribly frustrating at first, but I think with time and grieving, it'll be ok. I don't think there is anything to feel guilty about, it happens to the best of us despite our most vigilant efforts!

Your fiance sounds like a sweety, and I'm sure he's more upset over you being distressed than he is over the ring being lost. So I'd show him some mercy by going easy on yourself.

And you never know, lost jewelery has been known to show up in the weirdest time in the weirdest places, you might just rediscover it someday when you least expect to.

SO sorry!!!!! I HAVE misplaced jewelry and yes indeed I even lost my wedding band! Usually the jewelry DOES turn up again!!!! Don''t panic yet!

thank you making the grade and motownmama for your kind words.

my fiance is being so so nice about it i think thats why i feel guilty! i guess im really lucky too because if he was angry and yelled at me, id be crying even harder.

i even told him to keep the engagement ring and not even let me wear it in case i lose it too.. its just been a horrible weekend.

sorry to hear about the loss of your ring

hopefully it''ll turn up somewhere. It happens, and we just learn to be more careful next time I think...And sounds like your FI is sweet understanding person too.

I''m so sorry to hear about your ring!!!

I hope it turns up.

So sorry to hear about your ring!!! That`s awful!! I really hope it turns up when you least expect it in the next few days!

I`m so sorry you lost your ring...I`ll keep my fingers crossed that it turns up. Don`t feel bad it isn`t your fault these things happen and they happen all time which is sad. It will take time but it will get easier to deal with.
Please don`t stop eating etc take care of yourself and I hope you have a speedy recovery from your bout with food poisoning. Did you have the ring insured perhaps...then maybe you have some recourse...again I`m really sorry big hugs

So sorry to hear this, Myring. Losing a special piece of jewelry is such an awful feeling! Please don''t beat yourself up to much. It really does happen to the best of us! Focus on resting and getting better right now. I''ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Im sure it will turn up. {HUGS} It was a horrible weekend but believe your fiance when he says its ok, theres nothing you can really do about it, unfortunately. Keep smiling and wear your e-ring dont be scared of losing it.

Chances are good it''ll turn up- things hide sometimes. I once lost an alexandrite ring for months, and one day I stuck my hand in my purse to get some change at the bottom and pulled out the ring instead, despite having turned it out like three times. Also lost my e-ring last month- I actually left work and went home to look, and found it in the livingroom on the floor after an hour of freaking out- it had fallen off my hand the night before somehow (I lost weight, and it''s way loose and I''m retarded and haven''t resized it yet.)

You might try the flashlight thing- use it to look on the floor in the room where your jewelry box is- things hide in corners soooo well, and a flashlight does help to catch a reflection off metal/stones.

Food poisoning ugh! Awful week indeed.

I wouldn''t feel guilty- we all lose things. That''s what insurance is for on the nice stuff, like your e-ring! Try not to be too hard on yourself. Your FI sounds like a sweetie though.

So sorry you have lost a ring, keep looking it might turn up somewhere still, I misplaced a ring also but found it about a week later would you believe I hid it myself thinking it was in a safe spot.

Hope you are feeling better after the food poisoning too!

How terribly heartbreaking, it''s the worst feeling!!

Hope you''re feeling better after the food poisoning, what a nasty double whammy! Poor thing.

Think positive thoughts!

Did you go get a manicure recently?

Did you leave it in the car?

I''ll be sending happy thoughts your way! I would highly recommend Jeweler''s Mutual because they cover mysterious disappearances! I feel pretty secure with their insurance policy.

Oh I''m so sorry you are having such an awful day, but the ring could still show up! Short of someone taking it out of your jewellery box, it has to be around, right! Try to roll the film backwards; when was the last time you were wearing it, where did you go, what did you do when you took it off etc? It''s funny, but sometimes we are convinced we did something, ie put something in a certain place without this being the case. Trust me, this is coming from Ms Misplace :-)

Bad things happen so don't beat yourself up over it myring. It may possibly turn up again when you least expect it.

My husbands wedding ring disappeared for 2 years and then suddenly showed up in the middle of the room on the carpet. Don''t get yourself too upset. It may just pop up later this week.

I am so sorry!!! Like the others here I have lost jewelry and many times it has shown up in the strangest places and the least expected time. It is also time to remind ourselves that it is just a thing...it is not your Fiance, or your health, or your mom. Best to you.

I''m so sorry this has happened. I hope it turns up.

Oh no!
Rings have a mysterious way of vanishing and reappearing when you least expect them, so don''t lose all hope just yet..
My e-ring disappeared early this spring and I thought I would never see it as I was pretty sure it came off when I was taking my gloves on and off while walking the dogs. I was devastated..I''d only had it a few months

About a week later, my fiancee was out in the driveway and saw a flash along the edge..sure enough, it had come off right outside the door.
Fingers crossed it turns up..

DUST

I hope your ring turns up! In the meantime, please try not to make yourself sick with worry or drive yourself crazy thinking about where it could be... I know that''s easy to say but hard to do. You just never know where or when it could turn up. Like the kind PSers said here, I''ve also lost jewelry and had it turn up in the oddest places... in the bottom of my purse, in the back of a drawer... just sitting on a bookshelf, of all places. I hope you just put it somewhere in the house and forgot about it. Sending good ring vibes your way!

Check your jewelry cleaner jar; also check the floors around your nightstands, etc.

Ditto and look under your bed too. I pray it turns up!!

Do you have pets?

My husband''s wedding ring was on top of a dresser and the next thing we knew, it was gone. I looked and looked and looked with no luck. I gave up on it showing up a couple months later and started looking for a new one for him. We finally found one he liked and bought him a new one. Not two weeks later, his original ring showed up wedged between the seat cushion and the back of a side chair we rarely used. The only thing I can figure out is that it got knocked off the dresser, the dog found it and "buried" it in the chair.

Your ring can still turn up! Don''t beat yourself up too much, these things happen.

I am so sorry to hear you lost your ring. PS Dust coming your way to find it.

I hope it turns up!!!

Do wear and enjoy your e-ring...but definitely insure it just in case!

so i spent the day flipping my room upside down, taking everything out of the dresser/drawers to make sure my ring didnt slip in between anything, then put everything back in, then i was on my hands and knees looking in between cracks... and nothing. not a sign.

its just the worse feeling possible!

unfortunately i dont have any insurance for it because i was young and dumb. i got it 2 years ago from my boyfriend (who is now my fiance). but thanks for the heads up everyone. i will have to talk to him about insurance for the engagement ring (does it matter that he lives in hong kong? honestly ive heard of people having insurance for engagement rings in canada and usa but not asia)

and no april 20, i dont have any pets so that cant be it. i do have a 19 month nephew running around the house from time to time but my jewlery box is out of his reach.

i hope you all are right and that it will just miraculously show up out of the blue... until then.... im gonna be devestated!

Aww, so sorry. Hugs.

Keep having faith that it''ll eventually show up somewhere!

(((HUGS)))) I know exactly how you feel. I lost my e-ring earlier this year whilst out to lunch with my mum. Trailed all over town looking and asked every shop keeping to look for me but it has never turned up. I still wonder if anyone found it and is wearing my ruby!

Fingers crossed it turns up! Thank goodness your fiance is so nice about it.

Have you tried using a flashlight when looking? It reflects the metal. I recently lost my tanzanite ring and called the stores I had visited that day and put a lost and found SOS on Craigslist. The next day I found the ring in the little bowl in the kitchen in which I sometimes place my rings before I start to cook. Good luck, I hope you find it soon.
