Looky what I got!!

OK, so I just got back from a trip down to the Smokey Mountains. While we were down there we stopped at one of those "mine you own gem" places... I know it''s pretty much set up so that you find some stones, but I thought it would be fun. So, we payed $35 for a big ol'' bucket of sand, and we "mined" a TON of different stones. (Now, I know that you would never really find all of these stones together but it was JFF) I ended up choosing a garnet that I found, to have it cut and polished. I was anxious to see what I ACTUALLY received in the mail... and here it is! It''s approx. 3ct... No idea on clarity or anything, but it looks pretty nice! (Assuming it''s real)

Those places are sooo fun to do. I have a EC aqua somewhere that I ''mined'' (hehe). I need to to look for that piece. It must have been over 10 years ago. But I would love to do it again!

... My hubby gave me the go ahead to do "whatever I want" with it.... I definitely want to do a pendant.

We were in Gatlinberg, Tennessee and went to one of the many "mine your own gem" shops. They are all over the place down there. If you do go down there- stay out of Pigeon Forge! It''s a crappy little tourist trap. Stay in Gatlinberg and you will have a great time!
