before you plunk down any money, especially for emerald cut, can i recommend the book by renee newman? she has pictures of good and bad emerald cuts - which have to be judged by the "eyeball" method.
also good and bad rounds.
read the book first and learn as much as you can. then you will be ready to look at stones.
You might not be able to go down to an SI in an emerald cut since it''s glassy appearance does not hide inclusions as well as rounds and other cuts. An SI in a round can be fine depending on the inclusions.
