Hi there,

I have always loved the micro pave setting and I plan on converting my existing wedding set into matching micro pave rings (or something similar with diamonds)....however, there seems to be different variations.
I''m looking for something very, very delicate..... no more than 1.5mm.....2mm at the most. My wedding band is currently a channel set ring...which will also be converted to the new setting.

Here is a pic of my current ering set in platinum:

My question is......are there different types of pave?
Shared prong seems to highlight the diamonds very well....but can you get that style in 1.5mm?

Basically - I''m looking for a band that shows more diamonds than metal. I would love to see some diamond settings with specs : ) Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much.

I would encourage you to go with at least 2 mm as I think narrower than that is very, very fragile. If I wanted a micro-pave set, I'd look at Leon Mege www.artofplatinum.com. Another very popular set that is very thin is from Ritani's Endless Love collection. I'll try to find a link of pictures of that for you:

If you scroll down to the hand pictures, you can see how thin that ring is. I think the e-ring setting is about 1.8mm and the wedding band is 2.0mm.

And yeah, I agree with this. 2 mm is still REALLY thin.

Thanks so much. I''ve seen some very thin bands on this site and I just love how delicate they are. I''ve been in touch with a local jeweller who said he can add diamonds to my current setting....not sure if this a common approach.

So - if I go that route than he said he would just add the diamonds in the existing band. As for my wedding band...he will have to remove the diamonds and start fresh with a new setting.

I''m so picky and currently I feel like my wedding set is a little heavier than I would prefer....

Here is a side view.

If you want to get the band to less than 2 mm I would go with Ritani''s Endless Love collection. I''m pretty sure their bands are under 2 mm but are a bit taller to make up for it. Also check out TheFacetsCollection.com. They have really great super thin eternity bands and I assume you can get an engagement ring setting just as thin from them. However, like Ellen and diamondseeker pointed out, it is riskier to have a super thin band.

Also, I don''t see how your jeweler could put diamonds in your existing setting other than having them be hammer set (I think that''s the term?). Kind of like the Tiffany Etoile band with scatter diamonds. I would just start over, personally.

Oh, as far as different types of pave, there are a few. A lot of settings that are called ''pave'' are actually beadset (that''s what I have). The Ritani Endless Love collection looks kind of channel set to me, but I wasn''t looking that closely when I tried it on so I''m not positive on that. If I recall correctly, on Leon Mege''s website there''s a section that explains the different types of pave.

My e-ring on its own is not too bad in terms of width:

I''m with those who suggested Ritani or Leon. I would not trust anyone to do a band that thing. I also wouldn''t trust the quality on just anyone''s pave.

Another look (also with high quality) that shows more diamond than metal is a shared single-prong like by Memorie or Ritani. I tried the one on by Ritani and it looked just like diamonds encircling my finger... the metal was hardly noticeable at all. You can see each individual diamond... it''s beautiful.

Good luck in your search!

There certainly are different types of pave....for e.g., beadset vs fishtail (like LynnB's w-set). Both very different looking, you just have to decide what you like. Here is a thread you will be interested in...Mrssalvo explains the major differences (with pics!) between the 2 types....https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/michael-b-princess-rings-style-differences.44948/

If you like the micro-pave look, I would go with a setting like the Ritani endless love. Here is a thread with great pics of that setting:

Good luck!

Have you considered wearing two pave bands on either side of your ering? A few here have that look (though can''t think of who atm). That''s another possibility.

Thanks Sera!

Funny you should mention that. Adding a micro pave to my current set is what started this whole thing : ) I tried on a bead set band and LOVED it....but wasn''t too thrilled with the way it looked with my current set....so then the jeweller suggested he could convert my existing bands into micro pave.

This jeweller has been around forever, and has a great reputation. But I am a little nervous to hand in my rings because they mean a lot to me. Even if I bought a new setting I would still be nervous because at the end of the day someone else will have my rings....eeeekkkk.

Thanks for the information.

Do you have pics of your ring?

Thanks Diamondseeker!!!

I LOVE that ritani setting!!! OMG it is absolutely gorgeous! Do you know how much a setting like that would cost? Also, where can I purchase a ritani setting? I also love Leon''s settings!!! Again.....amazing!!!

I wonder if Mara knows where to get a setting similar to her friends. Wow - the rings on this site are amazing!

Carrie-

Contact Bill Pearlman of www. pearlmansjewelers.com. You can email him, he is very quick to respond. He is wonderful, and can get you Ritani. I think that setting is around $2300. I might be a little off, b/c I looked into that setting last yr., and that is how much it was then, so it probably went up a little in price since then....

Yes, as Dani told you, Pearlman''s carries the Ritani settings like Mara''s friend''s. The setting may be hard to locate on his site, but it is there! In addition, I will tell you that one person on PS requested that Ritani make both the e-ring and w-band 2mm so that they are the same width. I do prefer that, personally. The Ritani settings are very well made and so are Leon''s. The difference is that Leon rings are custom and handmade. But Ritani is a designer brand and very nice quality. I''d be happy to have either!

I would not try to add diamonds to your existing ring. I just don''t think you''d be happy with that compared to these.
