hello everyone!
35.gif

I want to do an emerald cut e-ring but need ideas/help on the setting. I''m thinking sidestones b/c the look is so classic ...swoon.... but I''m not sure what would look best. I''m not a fan of half moons or baugettes but other than that i''m open to suggestions. I''d like something classic but also original (could I be anymore contrary?) So what do you emerald owners (or lovers) think Pears? trillions? Marquise? Of course pictures are welcome!
Thanks a million everyone

I like these Step cut Traps on the side (it''s a yellow diamond but you get the idea)
Here

And here''s an actual Emerald with trillions so you can see how that looks:
Here

Shields, bullets, traps, kites. I''m tagging along because I also have an EC that I need to reset and am thinking of a three stone.

How about bullets?

Here are mine. The EC has pear and marquise sidestones and the Royal Asscher has round brilliants on the shank.

Mine are double pointed tapered bullets.........

VERY COOL! I had never noticed they were pointed on both ends! Definitely unique!

I love traps with an EC. It''s a little different than looking like the regular smaller EC or bag, but still classic and fluid.

Not as much in love with a pear with an EC, a marquise E-W could be interesting

Small radiants could be different too...you could mimic the elogated EC shape with a rectangular radiant, but the different cuts might step it up a bit. I''d want to see that set-up in person though before I decided I love it, yanno? :)

Have to agree here--I think traps with an EC are phenomenal. Have you seen Nicole Richie''s old ring? It''s a 5ct EC with light purple trap side stones. It takes my breath away!

I don''t think it''s quite what you''re looking for, but my ring has four .15 ct RBs, two on either side of the EC (see my avatar <--). I think it''s an interesting compromise between the pave band-type look and the side stone look; however, it''s definitely not the very classic style I''m picturing you want. More pics here if you''re interested.

thanks ladies for busting out those beautiful ec rings... wow, Catmom I really love the color of your stone neat. You all have beautiful rings and thank you for your suggestions... I really like the bullets. I probably should have clarified, I was thinking of marquise or pear set east west on the side with the ec set N/S. I also thought about asschers next to the EC anyone have pics or opinions about that?

Hi History chick,

I too love emerald cuts set in three stone designs but wanted something unique.
Here is mine, its an EC set with flanders brilliants on the side (similar to RB''s but they are actually octagonal)

I love this timeless Leon beauty

scb970 mmmmm your ring is delicious.... i love it! what other ideas did you go through before you decided on the flanders?

thanks history chick.

I considered practically all combinations possible! I looked at trilliants, half moons, bullets, baggetts, round brilliants, cushions, you name it!

For me, i really liked the idea of teaming up the classic step cut of the EC with a contrasting faceting system for the extra brilliance and unique combination. At first i thought it would clash but once i held up the stones together i fell in love with it.

I went with the flanders (although I had never even heard of them before) because i loved the octagonal shape,, i thought the straight edges complimented the straight sides of the EC, as aposed to an RB or cushion for example, although they give a very similar effect from afar.

I would recommend visiting a great jeweler and viewing lots and lots of stones and playing around with different combos.

Good luck!!
