So I''ve been doing searches for my ideal diamond. This is for my e-ring which my BF will be proposing with in the distant future. The thing is I have found a few diamonds that would be good for me, but I haven''t found the IDEAL diamond that matches everything I want. And this is because it''s not listed in anyones inventory.

What did you do or what do you suggest doing? Wait until you find the stone that matches all your ideals, or when the time comes to buy the stone, choose the closest fit?

What are your ideal specifications? Just curious!

Hee hee!.... hmmm, Well I what I''m looking for is an I or J color stone, SI2 that is white and very eye clean (perhaps even loupe clean!) , size I''d like to be at least 6mm and up to a .99ct (so maybe 6.4mm?) I also have crown angles and %s in mind. And depth I like it no deeper than 61.5.

So when I do a search by cut up there on tool bar, a lot of the results are weeded out. Oh! And I''m looking for a price below $3000 and I''m going for only AGS and GIA certed stones. I''ve found a beauty that I''m hooked on, I just wish it was a smidgen larger. But all I''ve seen so far are numbers and photos, and once my BF and I see it in person I''m sure my thoughts will change, one way or the other

How much larger? If it's something like .07cts, it won't be visable.

EBree asks a very good question. What are you looking for? I would suggest you work with a dealer, either on-line or in-person you trust. Give them your specifications and let them do their job. There are lot''s of diamond buyers. Someone may have already specified a stone with your parameters and stones that meet your expecations may not even become posted.

It''s like telling a good realtor what kind of house and property you are looking for. They find them and then they show you properties that hopefully provide the features and location you requested.

I would definitely contact some vendors and let them do the looking for you. I am sure they have access to alot of stones and can definitely find something if they know specifically what you are looking for.

Good luck - I''m sure ''your'' stone is just around the corner!
