Looking for split shank pave setting

Hi,
I''ve been searching for a split shank micro pave setting for my cushion cut diamond (1.61 Carats). There''s a store in my area that has exactly what I''m looking for but they want $7000.00 for the setting alone. Does that seem reasonable to you??? It looks similar to Daniel K split crown below, except that the setting I like is daintier -- around 1.3 mm wide and the prongs are different. The jeweler says that the company that makes the ring is KR in NYC and that the setting is hand made. Has anyone ever heard of this company? The jeweler I purchased the diamond from thinks someone can make it for a lot cheaper. Please help!

Oh my goodness! YES you can have it made for much less than $7000! I''d contact Maytal Hoftman. She is a designer who used to work for beaudry, and she does fabulous handmade pave work. I talked with her about making a ring for me, but I decided to get a simple solitaire instead of going custom. Here is a thread with some of her work. All you have to do is show her pictures of what you want or tell her and she can draw it for you. Her email address is in this thread.

Hi Marty.

I think adwar makes a setting similar to the DK you posted but I''m pretty sure it won''t be thinner. That DK is very thin and delicate and a lot of time those tiny details that make the orignial special is lost in a repro. But 7k for a setting is a lot of $.

Leon Mege might also be a good choice of someone who can make a similar beautiful/thin pave split shank. He is also a little expensive, but has very good quality work. He will be less than 7k, but probably more than 3k. His website is artofplatinum.com

Thanks for your responses. I contacted Anwar, and I have to go through a jeweler to get more information from them.

mrssalvo - did you get the daniel k? I saw an earlier thread of yours. I called Pearlman''s to inquire about the setting, but he said that Daniel K will not sell the setting alone. If you did get the setting, what is the thickness of the shaft?

I didn''t end up getting the DK ring, but I believe it was 1.9mm and and the split ws a tiny bit thinner.
