Hey there experts,

I was hoping somebody might be able to offer some help reading this idealscope image.

From what I can tell after reading a few articles, its reasonably good ... but I have to admit I''ve only seen a handful in my life so I dont have a strong reference point to draw on.

What do you think?

The Diamond is an 0.69 H-VS2-Ideal with AGS certification and will cost me $1740 with pricepoint discount.

Actually, on that note - There is really no cut evaluation that I can see on the AGS cert (like the way GIA might specify "excellent". The "Ideal Cut" is only in the description of the diamond at James Allen. Is this normal?

Scope image is attached.

Is that stone an AGS 0 cut grade, or is it just certified for colour and clarity?

It has a pale area around the edge of the table that's reminiscent of the light leakage seen in a slightly steep/deep stone.

Probably that is a Diamond Quality Report right?

Can you provide a link to the diamond''s info page on James Allen? That way we can look at the AGS report.

Make sure the stone is on hold for you first.

Yeah its only certified for Colour and Clarity by the looks of things:

Here is the cert and relevant specs:

5.69x5.72x3.52
Table: 56.4
Depth: 61.6
Crown Angle: 34.6 degrees
Pavilion Angle: 40.9 degrees
Culet: pointed
Girdle: Thin to Medium, faceted @ 1% - 3.8%
Symmetry and Polish are Excellent

The "on paper" proportions look to be very close to super-ideal, but it looks just fractionally less than super-ideal from the image.

yap, numbers looks good, but IS image has some irregularities, off symm faceting of the lower halves, probably obstruction some minor issue at the dark facets but no light leakage problem.

I''m no expert, but if you look at the 2nd arrow starting from "12 O''Clock" you will see that the shaft doesn''t line up with the arrow very well. I don''t know what that means but I read you should look for that.

Well thanks for the input guys. I guess I''m on the fence now ... I''ll try to make up my mind tonight :)

For me, the diamond doesn''t have to be super-ideal necessarily ... I think a stone that was simply "excellent" would do given my price priorities. If anyone else cares to chime in I''d love to hear your opinion. $1740 for this one (0.69 - VS2 - H) ... or keep looking?

Thanks all!

It''s fine.

I think it is a good price.
