I live in Toronto, my fiance lives in Philly ... we just got engaged ... I didn't buy the ring yet because I wanted her to pick the setting. Budget is a major factor, since we have been spending most of our money on the 8 hour commute over the last year and a half (I basically work 5 days on, 5 days off)
We've been going crazy looking at settings and it seems the more we look, the harder it gets haha
She isn't set on it, but she likes side stones ... as long as they're subtle, nothing that takes away from the main stone ... I think the round channel setting looks best ...
She likes classic, yet something a little funky/different, a twist or nice curve, etc. (if that makes any sense)
Seeing more of the diamond is a plus (rather than settings that cover a lot of it up)
So far, one of her favourite is one we saw at Michael Hill (in the mall) ... this picture is horrible (doesn't even look like it, wrong angle, etc) but it's the closest I've been able to find online

She also likes these (just to show the range of settings she likes):

After reading this site for a few months, I see that it's best to find a setting from one of the sites that are recommended here (along with the diamond)
The budget isn't huge, I'm thinking in the $3500 range (that's like $22000 Canadian hahaha), so I would like to keep the setting price down to get the best diamond possible.
Any suggestions on settings would be appreciated (once we choose a setting, then I'll be asking for help with the diamond )
Thanks!
