Hi All,

I am looking for new diamond studs to buy for myself for my birthday. I recently lost one of my studs that was gifted to me- sad :((. They were beautiful studs with a screw back - I am so incredibly heartbroken.
I have a VERY limited budget ($400 max [USD]) and to be honest I am somewhat unfamiliar with diamonds. Ideally, I would like gold (prefer yellow over white or perhaps platinum) and need recommendations on the backing as well- considering that I DO NOT want to lose another earring again. I would also prefer to stay away from halo and cluster type studs. I am fully aware that I will not get to have ginormous studs with my price point but would like to have something that is nice and shiny.
I also do not have a jeweler in the city where I live... so I think online stores are my best options.
I have been reading a lot of posts here and a lot of the replies, although very useful, use a lot of acronyms for stores that I am not familiar with- but also, my budget seems to be much less than most posts- with that said, I apologize if this post seems redundant.

I have found a couple ... but the internet is so vast and overwhelming... and many of them lack sufficient photos to allow me to evaluate the stud.

Welcome @mizzbutterfly! How exciting to be getting studs for your birthday! If you’re wanting to make certain the studs are as secure as possible, I’d suggest screwbacks. Some may find them uncomfortable, but the size range you have in mind, they should be just fine.

As for the studs, I’d recommend also reaching out to ID Jewelry based in NY. They are great at maximizing what you can get for budget. Give Yekutiel or Shulamit your budget range is and see what they have to offer. Oh, and let them know you are looking for pricescope quality diamonds too.

You're welcome! That's wonderful to hear. Hope you'll share your new studs with us - we always love to see photos. =)2

Have you considered trying to match your remaining earring? Then you could use your whole budget on one earring, but still end up with a pair.

IDJewelry could help with making a match (if possible within budget)(you didn't say what size your original pair was)
