Hello,

I have found the setting that I think my girlfriend will absolutely love. It is the WF Legato Sleek Line Pave (http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/diamond-settings/legato-sleek-line-pave-diamond-engagement-ring-1120.htm)

She has mentioned kind of on passing that she prefers the radiant diamond. I am kind of overwhelmed by the 4 C's. I am trying to learn as much as I can.

I am thinking around a 0.95-1.25 ct. She does have small fingers and she is around a size 6. Is it possible to get some help to find a really nice Radiant cut on White Flash. Price wise I am willing to spend up to 8-10k on the center diamond.

Any help would be awesome.

Thank you!!

:wavey:

The thing is that it is hard to judge fancy shapes by the numbers - they need to be seen. And I believe WF requires you to pay in full before they even call the stone in for a work up (?). That said the table and depth look good, it has ex/ex for polish/symmetry, and it is a nice size face up (I have an emerald of roughly the same dimensions on a size 5 finger), and love the icy E color! It may have potential....

But that said I think the VVS1 is overkill in the clarity department - you are paying a high premium for something you literally cannot see. And radiants often hide inclusions fairly well due to their (usually) splintery faceting. I'd (personally) consider dropping clarity and look for something bigger in size, but that's just me! :naughty:

Re: Looking for Radiant cut to go with WF Legato Sleek Line

Yes by my understanding WF does require full payment before a work up. However again by my understanding it is 100% refundable if I don't want it after the work up. So I think I am ok doing that.

My GF hands are fairly small, I dont want a ring too big that it dominates her entire hand if that makes sense.

Do you suggest going down to a VS1/VS2? or just to a VVS2?

Here is another one I found, numbers wise looks fairly good!

Code:
IAMOND PERFORMANCE

Symmetry Excellent

Item Code 2924181
Category Virtual Selection
Shape Radiant
Carat 1.03
Color G
Clarity VS1

DIAMOND SPECIFICATIONS
Depth % 66.0
Table % 60.0
Crown Angle 0.0
Star 0.0
Pavilion Angle 0.0
Crown % 0.0
Lower Girdle % 0.0
Measurements 6.28x5.24x3.46
Culet None
Fluorescence None
Girdle Thick-Very Thick

The only thing that concerns me is the Girdle, will a thick girdle make a big difference?

Re: Looking for Radiant cut to go with WF Legato Sleek Line

Watch the diameter measurements. A stone that is too deep or that has a very thick girdle may face up smaller than a better cut stone. There is really no point in trying to pick from virtual stones. Just call them and ask their gemologist to select and call in 2-3 stones for you to see. I think you need to be prepared that it may take seeing several to find a good radiant. I am not sure I'd love a radiant in that setting, though, unless it is pretty square.

Why do you think only a square radiant would look good in that setting?

Re: Looking for Radiant cut to go with WF Legato Sleek Line

Anyone else suggest a cushion over radiant for this setting?

Re: Looking for Radiant cut to go with WF Legato Sleek Line

I have worked with WF enough that I would call them and ask them to pick the best radiant they have in your budget. I'm sure they would pick a winner for you.

Re: Looking for Radiant cut to go with WF Legato Sleek Line

Ok I will try that! I just wish I was able to compare multiple radiants at one time without having to pay for each one for WF to bring them in.

Re: Looking for Radiant cut to go with WF Legato Sleek Line

I was just going to ask what shape radiant you were looking for. Radiants come very square to rectangular, and by rectangular they can be long and narrow or chubby and anything in between. So really it is an open field.

maybe give a little more info to help find the right stone for you guys

More of a slight rectangle. Not completely square, probably 1.2-1.3 L/W

Re: Looking for Radiant cut to go with WF Legato Sleek Line

1.2-1.3 definitely rectangular.

Re: Looking for Radiant cut to go with WF Legato Sleek Line

Ok then definitely rectangular.

Which way should the rectangle be in the setting. Horizontal or vertical?
