Hi everyone,
I'm looking to get my wife a 10 year anniversary gift. I know she likes emerald cut diamonds (she's not into round diamonds at all).. Anyway, the attached image is the look I am going for..
I talked to a local jewelry store owner and they told me they could make this in platinum, VS quality, F/G color and quoted me the following depending on size I was looking for.
5.5 ct TW would be 11,000
6.5 ct TW would be 13,000

Honestly, I haven't looked at rings/diamonds in about 10 years...
Just wanted to get everyone's thought on if this appears to be a fair deal? or if you know anyone who makes similar style that maybe has better prices... My wife's finger size if 6.25 if that matters...

Thanks for any input.. I'll keep reading posts here to re-learn what I've forgotten since I last had to buy a diamond... :)

I would recommend reaching out to Yekutiel at IDJ since they are a trusted PS vendor and I have personally seen some of their EC rings, which were beautiful. They have competitive pricing, as well, so you could also see how it compares against what you already got.

Thanks!.. I'm taking a look now.. They have a very similar ring and the pricing is comparable. Will continue to look, but this is very promising !!!

What a dream ring this will be. Very sweet of you. Good luck with your research.

Thanks,
I checked out some of the other vendors listed here, and IDJ appears to be the only one that has the size and style I'm looking for. Now we just got to make sure to get the ring size correct...

Quick question if anyone knows, are 1/4 increment ring sizes uncommon? do they typically go in 1/2 increments? I know my wife tried on a ring recently that fit perfectly, but we were told it was 6.25... IDJ has ring size selection in 1/2 increments= (6.0, 6.5, etc).. wonder if 6.5 will be too loose for my wife....

I would contact Yekutiel directly and ask him for a custom ring...he could then customize the size and select PS quality stones. At that price point, I don't think I'd be just shopping off the shelf, so to speak.

I'd ask Yekutiel about sizing and what women usually do with an eternity of this size. Since future sizing might not be able to be done I might want it a little bigger just in case.

Also consider whether she will be wearing it on its own or stacking it with anything else and which hand she's likely to want to wear it on. Wearing multiple rings together usually means the sizing needs to go up a little. Also if the current size is based off a single or pair of quite thin rings, you may also want to check what size is comfortable with a wider band like this.

Sorry, but what do you mean by PS quality stones?

HI:

I have an eternity ring--"square EC"--in a u shaped prong setting. I love it. 6.25 ctw.

Before you buy--and commit to a custom ring since they are not returnable--I recommend she try on this style of ring. Not everyone finds this eternity ring style, "comfortable". Notwithstanding, you do need to get the "size" correct and how do you know unless she tries rings on? Dimensions of stones and prong size....and...and..variables!!!

cheers--Sharon

PS quality = pricescope quality. This means top notch cut quality.

They know. Tell him pricescope told you to call yekutiel.

And yes, it is wise to have her try on a ring that is similar in carat weight and style to the one you're planning. That will be a thick wall of diamonds between the fingers. Some adjust to that feeling, some don't.

Also, the wider the band (from hand to nail) the tighter they seem. Many people go up in ring size when the band is wider. As they do when stacking.

What a beautiful, thoughtful way to commemorate your anniversary.

Count me one more witness to both statements:

It took a day of wear to find out that I could not do this style - broken skin between fingers looks unprofessional. This is not very common ...

I take a 3/2 mm hike between the (inner) diameter of a < 2mm band (14 mm inner diameter) and a 13 mm wide band, approx. 1mm extra at 6 mm width. Ring size always goes up with width.

Thank you everyone for your input.
My wife has tried these this type of ring on in two stores when we were out and didn't mind the feel (hopefully she won't have any issue with irritation to side fingers from wearing it for a longer time).. She's going to wear the ring on her righr hand with no other rings. She can get a size 6 on but it's a little snug. 6.25 is perfect, so I may just stick with that rather than go up to 6.5 and have it slightly loose.
I'll reach out to IDJ today to get things in motion.

Thanks for all your help and advice.. I'll post pictures once I get it.

I'm usually a 6.5 ring size, but I've gone up a quarter size on my latest ring because it's got a thick band and I don't want to be messing about with resizing in the future. It's a good fit and not too loose at all.

BTW  wowser on your choice.
