Hubby and I just bought a 1.71 emerald cut F VS1 to celebrate 25 years of marriage. I have always dreamed of the classic Tiffany setting and now I''m finally getting it. I''ve asked every jeweler I''ve gone to about getting a band that will fit flush with the engagement ring. I''ve searched the internet for a solution and think I''ve finally found it. I''m posting pix of two rings that were custom made for other people. It seems to me that on both of these the basket was modified to allow another ring to fit next to it. I''d like opinions, especially from jewelers or others in the industry (but all opinions are welcome!

I showed these photos to a jeweler I''ve been working with for several weeks on designing something for me. He has a set that he made for a lady who decided not to take it. Although the set fits me perfectly, it''s not what my "heart" loves...and I really don''t want to settle. I''ve posted a picture of the basket on that ring...it''s the one with the channel set baguettes. I think the shoulders are called "cathedral" style. But what I really want is a tapered baguette on each side, bar set. This jeweler saw my photos and told me that I can''t get a flush fit with this style. Is this true?

Photo #1 and #2 are the same ring. Photo #3 is a different ring but the same concept on the basket. Photo #4 is the basket from the ring at my local jeweler.

Although I''m not 100% sure what band I want, I''m leaning toward an eternity prong or shared prong with asscher cuts about 3 - 3.5mm wide OR eternity band with channel set asscher (although this band would probably be more comfortable but not show the diamonds as well.)

Okay, pix 2,3 & 4 will follow this post...not quite sure why I can''t attach more than one file.

Photo #3 is a different ring but same idea with a modified basket.

This is the setting from my local jeweler...although it fits me perfectly it''s not really what I love. But the basket allows the band to fit perfectly flush.

Hi GCDC,
I''m not a jeweler but I have to agree with what yours is saying. A wedding band will not sit completely flush with
either of those first two. It may set close enough though. I have a pear with baguettes on each side. The
back side of the ring (around the curved part of the stone) does stick out a little). This keeps my 5 stone from
sitting flush - but its close enough for me. Here are some pics...

Here is a view of my ering only...it really doesnt stick out that far at the bottom but it does push the wedding band out enough
to cause a gap.

EDIT - I'm not big on that 3rd ring either. The first one is really pretty though!

Another thing...its going to depend on how high your wedding band sets. If it sets very low it wont be pushed out by further up
on your e-ring. Are you going custom on your e-ring? I suggest you go custom on your wedding band too. A good jeweler might
be able to make some slight modifications to the wedding band that will help it to sit flush but will also help it to look "normal" if
you are not wearing your e-ring.

Thank you for your reply and your input. I know I would have to make a custom e-ring...there''s no way of getting around it. I want to have that one made first and then I thought I would take it to other jewlers and see what it looks like with their bands. If it happens to be what I want and fit flush, then great. If not, I''m willing to get the band custom made, too, but only if it will sit flush. Otherwise it kinda defeats the purpose of having custom work done.

Thanks for your opinions and your photos....your e-ring is the same styling as what I want, only a different shaped center stone.
