Dear Members of the community,
First, thank you so much for all your help! I appreciate your time.

My husband and me decided that we want to pick the ring together because we come from a country where its not common to give engagement rings. But I still want one since I go to school in US and plan to live here, and I just like them

I know I want an oval. Many people tried to persuade me to go with a round shape, saying its more classic, elegant, reflects light better, holds the value better. I do agree with all of these statements, but I know for a fact that I am more a "showy" type of girl with a very strong personality, and the round shape just doesn't match my character. I really really tried to love it but all I think when I see them is "oh, how boring". While I do understand that others tend to like round shapes more and there are more standards regarding the cut of the round diamond, I still don't want to go with it.

So, oval let it be. I want 1 ct at least. Preferably, 1.3 ct. My budget total is $7000, but thats with setting, so stone should be more like $5500-6000. Would you please recommend me anything on James Allen? I am extremely overwhelmed with understanding oval specs, I know people recommend a 1.5/1-1.3/1 ratio, "bow tie" but besides that I don't know what to look for!

Also, regarding the color and clarity... Is it true that with oval its better to go with a better color since the oval shape does not hide the imperfections as well as the round shape? If so, would you give me any recommendations for a good IN YOUR OPINION OF COURSE color and clarity?

Am I looking for something like D-H color and up to VS2 clarity?

Oh, and I want a halo setting

Thank you so much!!! Please forgive me for my ignorance if something that I said is not true regarding the diamonds, I am trying to do my research but still I feel like I have to learn so much more!

any thoughts?

Give me a minute to have a look at what JA has...

Thanks! I like it a lot! But I want to wait to also see if I can get even bigger stones, closer to 1.3 for 5K-6K

Another nice G...I have not been looking at the size (lengths)

This has a well lit center area but not so much towards the points

Another similar to the above

I can list some smaller ones if you are interested?

Just noticed you are looking for bigger...I'll see what I can find

You would have to drop down to an "I" to get to 1.3 at James Allen but as you can see this one is only 8.21 in length while the
Gs that I posted above were bigger in length or about the same.

Let me check some other sites.

Edit...
nothing at Enchanted Diamonds
and none at B2C Jewels with images.

I think your best bet would be to contact Yuketiel at ID Jewelry and tell him what you're looking for. Maybe he can find something
bigger in your budget.

Ok, I'll try to contact!
But which one of the above would your recommend the most?
And I don't think I want to do I for an oval stone, for a round one maybe, but not for an oval.

Dear members of the community,
Which oval do you suggest out of all these options?

Well the 1.11 and the 1.08 are very similar. They have the same faceting pattern and both look to have nice light return for
an oval. The 1.11 is priced really good. You could request asets on them and see if they can get them. Between these two
I'll go with the 1.11 just because it is priced better than the other one and I cant really distinguish between them.

The 1.05 is the biggest. It has smaller facets in the middle area so you are going to get smaller flashes but probably more of
them than the 2 Gs above (they will have fewer but bigger flashes). Cost more...$1300 more than the 1.11...not sure if I see
$1300 worth of better stone IMO...

The 1.07 F has a different faceting pattern than the others. I prefer the others...

So...this is tough but I think if it was my money (and I try to get more bang for my $) I would probably go with the 1.11.

What size finger do you have? I'll work it up in a tool that shows the relative size of the stones on a finger and post the picture
for you so you can get an idea of the size.

I have 7.5!

Here you go...the 1.11 then the 1.05 (which faces up slightly bigger).
