I have a loose diamond, which is certificated by GIA, and I am looking for a ring setting. Has anyone done this before: buying the diamond and the ring setting from different sellers? I am considering buying the setting from one of the online sellers and having them mount my diamond on the setting. Is it safe to do so? Can I trust those online sellers, for example, Brian Gavin and Whiteflash? Thank you very much!

Hi karljian,

People do it all the time. It's safe, and yes, BGD and WF (and many more PS vendors) can be trusted. :))

100% they can be trusted! Sounds like a lovely project!

Not only can you check on Pricescope vendors and ask for opinions, you can google a vendor and find out tremendous amounts about anyone you are considering to use.

Wink

Thank you all very much! So it seems that I don't need to have my diamond laser inscribed? Would that be too risky?

Many ppl don't have their diamonds laser inscribed. If you are nervous you can get an appraiser to make sure the diamond matches up. However I wouldn't worry about it.

Many PSers do this often, myself included. BGD and WF are also often used amongst others. You don't need to have your diamond laser inscribed; just note the inclusion plot and match their characteristics up to your diamond.

Thank you all! It seems that I am over-worried. Thank you!
