Hello,

Hoping somebody here can help recommend where to get a quality lab grown sapphire in the UK? I'm looking to buy a 4 or 5 carat blue emerald shaped sapphire to form the center-piece of an engagement ring I am designing.
I've done a lot of reading up in this area but can only find US companies selling lab sapphires.

Also what kind of ballpark price can I expect to pay for the sapphire I've described above if I'm looking for top quality - as close to the mined equivalent as possible - a strong mid-dark blue with a high quality cut?

Any recommendations of sites/retailers/individuals in the UK would be greatly appreciated. :D

Thanks

Just a quick follow up: The best US example I found online fitting my criteria was a Catham lab Sapphire, which is $1,188 for their 4.5 carat stone. They have clear photos and an HD video which shows a rich blue colour and what appears to be a good cut.

The closest I've found from a UK seller is this one on Etsy. It is just $60. Does this seem too cheap to be any good? The colour seems good but the photos aren't clear enough to tell how brilliant it is.

Help!

Hi Sapphirehunting,
You are not receiving any responses because this site is dedicated to natural gemstones only. Lab grown sapphires are not allowed. So sorry.

I wonder if any of the cobalt spinel here is still available. It has the most incredible colour.

I would also be worried by anything that looked too cheap. If I commissioned a custom ring (because the stone is unlikely to fit a stock setting unless you are very careful with the dimensions) then I would want to be sure the stone was worth the money and time I invested to create the ring.
