Looking for a honest opinion...

I really like this forum and it have been a great help for me at shopping for an engagement ring for my girlfriend.
I finally find a diamond, and would really appreciate a honest third party opinion before the purchase.
It is a EGL USA certificated Round Brilliant 1.01ct SI1 Color D Diamond with hearts and arrows (EGL hearts and arrows report).

Depth: 65.2%
Table: 57%
Crown: 16.1%
Pavilion: 43%
Girdle: Thin to Thick Faceted
Culet: None

Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: Faint Blue

It looks great and I really like it. Should I consider the purchase, if the price is about $5,800?

Way too deep!... A well cut 1 ct stone should be near 6.45mm in diameter. I'm guessing this stone is like 6.30mm?

No, I don't think it is a good price - I ran a quick search using the PS Diamond Search, specifying a carat range of 1.0 - 1.02ct, D-SI1, with Very Goods for Symmetry and Polish... I copied and pasted the results, which are below -- as is clear, your stone is priced significantly higher than comparable stones.

No, it isn't worth it. It would be FAR better to pay for a .90 ct stone that is excellent or ideal cut with a reliable grading report.

It's too deep as others have said, according to the linked chart, your "1.01" faces up or looks just as big as a ".85" so if you're looking for comparables, you gotta ask, is $5,800 too much for a .85? YES. You could get a very well cut .9 or even go down in color to get an ideal 1 ct that'll look better and BE BIGGER.

In general, GIA is your gold standard for diamond certs, just more of the nicer cuts are graded GIA vs EGL which is softer. Believe me, I got attracted to a .97 EGL that was 67.7% deep aka .8 ct facing before I knew any better and wised up.
