No more than 2mm. I would like it to fit flush with wedding band. Any thoughts/pics would be greatly appreciated!!! Plus, for those that wear the knife edge, is it comfortable?? Thanks!!
Yes. I am currently having it set in a 4 prong. But I think the 6 prong is calling me. The jeweler kind of discouraged me from doing a 6 prong knife edge. Said it can be uncomfortable, and will not sit flush with wb. I have been looking at all the beautiful rings on here....6 is calling!!
Do you have a picture of the wedding band?
I have a 6 prong, 2mm classic flat band (band doesn’t have a rounded look) the prongs sit quite low (no shoulders) so when I get my band I suspect it will hit the prongs. Maybe consider a higher setting or one with shoulders.
I've just had this done - it's a 0.9ct in a 6 prong - I initially wanted 4 prongs, but based on some feedback here I went for 6 to reduce the chance of losing the stone. The 6 prongs are very delicate.
The ring itself started off as a stock 2.4mm platinum with a tight pinch. I changed my mind and got them to thin it down to around 1.9mm, with a gentle taper. My phone camera doesn't take great close up pics, but it's a really delicate ring design, which I know is what she likes. Not sure that a wedding band will sit immediately next to it, as I wanted a low setting, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it.
