Without even looking at the GIA report, I personally wouldn't want a diamond with a black inclusion smack in the middle of the diamond. Even if the diamond in question is eye clean, it wouldn't be "mind clean" for me.

So beyond the inclusion,do you have any thoughts on the angles or scope image?

It's a good diamond. Not bad from the price point
But please do check the impact of the inclusion near the centre whether it is eye clean.

Is looks ok, but suggests some pavillion angle variation where you see pink. The IS looks stronger than it does with less strong light blasting from behind . It scores above 2.0 on the HCA dues to its depth and steep PA/CA. So, there is some leakage and it's a borderline steep/deep. You have a great budget. Let us post some alternatives before you buy this one.

LOL, my thoughts too. That stuff drives me nuts, but in fairness, if its eye clean not every individual suffers from our same weakness.

Let me articulate the choice. The diamond will have bolder flashes of light/sparkle, the proportions are pretty much ideal, HCA 1.3 within TIC range, and although the video of the diamond wasn't taken perfectly level (a bit tilted over), it seems to have decent optical symmetry. There looks to be no visible light leakage nor a probability for it, so although it's a G color vs. F, it probably will face up brighter than the contender. They may or may not be able to provide an Idealscope image depending on their source, but you'll be better off with this choice.

Hi cub,

It's actually pretty good, the cut precision and a few other factors ' save' it from light leakage, it does however face up a bit small for 1.5 carats, so you're not going to get quite the look face up, which is something to consider.

Check if the black inclusion is visible to the naked eye and make your expectations clear with the vendor.

Videos nor the GIA report is working for me on that GOG diamond. The description says it is certified though. Using the values provided in the GIA facetware report (lower right corner of the page), this kicks back as a 1.3 on the HCA tool. Seems to be a great bang for the buck. I would place a temp hold on this while I sorted out the missing details/info and confirmed it was indeed eye clean.

My next favorite is that 1.66 H. I don't think the color will be an issue, but you need to request idealscope images, eye clean, etc. This one scored a 1.8 HCA. For the money, appears to also be a good value.

Some great suggestions here but I wouldn't go with the SI2 (for clarity based on the magnified pic, although an awesome cut&size for the price) and some more colored options. Although some embrace and love it, I have seen too many times people regretting getting more colored stones so a safe bet is staying above G in the near-colorless range especially if it's an engagement ring. If the stone is for yourself, that's a whole another story though.

Yup, a very interesting stone with a high crown and a 40.6 pavil angle.
