Have you also checked out www.diamondsbylauren.com?? They have a pretty impressive collection of yellows - and you may find a completed ring on their site that appeals!

Just to expand your options!

Wow. I have just realized that the 0.73c diamond I linked to from liebish has already been reserved. (I only found it earlier today)

Are loose diamonds like these fairly quickly snapped up?

Thanks for the suggestion to look at that other site. I will do a search. I'm a little skeptical not to have the GIA report on those stones you linked. Is that usual?

Brees,if you want them graded, DBL will send them to GIA for $150 and get the stone graded for you (at least I believe that is written on one of the yellows that I was cruising earlier today!!) I spend a lot of time drooling on there--- I love the yellow stones too and some of their rings for sale are TDF!!

What is it your are looking for - any particular shape for a particular setting? Solitiare, Halo, 3 stone???Ah - sorry - I see you said pave. Well, DBL rocks the pave halo setting, that's for sure!

Enjoy the hunt!

Thanks everyone,

At the moment looking just at loose diamonds as we've already found a setting locally.

She prefers the pave mount, and prefers cushion over the more square radiant.

I know colour and cut are most important when it comes to FCD. What about fluorescence, polish and symmetry?

Are VS1 and above clarity all going to be eye clean? What about SI1?

Fluorescence either improves the color, decreases the color, changes color... or does nothing at all to the color. :P I know that doesn't really help you out at all... but it's something the vendor should be able to tell you. Blue will usually decrease the color of a yellow. Yellow should increase the color. Greens/Orange/Red/Pink(etc) can do all sorts of things to the color. I'd trust both Liebish and David to tell you honestly how the fluor effects the color.

Symmetry is a personal preference.

VS1 should be eye clean. SI1 ... it's a case by case. Again, gonna have to trust the vendor.

Hello Brees, congratulations on the upcoming engagement!
I am no FCD expert, but I will tell you that whichever stone you choose, make sure you get lots of pictures from the vendor in different lighting environments, and make sure there is a good return policy. Colour is hard to judge via the internet, and coloured stones, diamonds included, can look great in a light box and quite different in real life.
That said, the two vendors you are looking at so far have excellent reputations, so you should be OK.

hi Brees

If you are using local jeweler to set, make sure they know how to set yellow diamonds. It is not as straight forward as chosing the gold color. THere are ways in which they create the setting so that the color of the center stone can be enhanced.

I can attest to the honesty of Leibish in regards to this exact topic. I was concerned that the 1ct FIY cushion that I bought last year would have issues with 'loss of yellow' due to the MB fluoro. Leibish assured me the stone showed no color shift between indoors and outdoors. The company even extended my return period to a number of months (the soonest I would be seeing it in person), to ensure I was happy with my purchase.

And I was. The stone is beautiful and the UV of sunlight does nothing to it. Under a UV light though - oh boy!

As GreenBling has mentioned, I wouldn't have anyone set a fancy colored diamond unless that was something they were renowned for doing. It takes an extra skill set to setting regular diamonds and if you want your (very expensive) fancy diamond to look its best, make sure to use a bench that is accustomed to working with them. Both Leibish and DBL have great benches that know EXACTLY how to handle a colored stone to best emphasize its beauty. :))

HI Brees- I wanted to poke my head in and say hi
About stones without GIA reports: IN general, yes, be skeptical of any Fancy Colored diamond being offered without a GIA report.
Specifically- we do offer some stones under 1carat without GIA reports in the lower price ranges- where the cost of report will add a fair percentage to the retail cost of stone.

About settings: in general, a lot of settings being offered are simply not designed for fancy colored diamonds. We've found that the setting makes a huge difference in how a FLY or FY looks once it's set.

Is the ring you're looking at locally two tone?
