Hi all! I've been lurking for a long time, the clock is ticking and I have less than two months to find a great rock! I've been looking at the whiteflash ACA cuts, and I have my eye on a diamond that is SI1...the website says that it's eye clean, how trustworthy is that? There seems to be a huge price jump from SI1 to VS2...Thanks!

How clean does a stone need to be for you to be happy with it? Clean from face-up from 10"? From 5"? From the sides as well? Call in and ask if the stone meets your requirements - they'll be happy to talk to you about it. And yes, to answer your question, you can trust their response ::)

ETA: This is their definition of eyeclean as presented on the website: http://www.whiteflash.com/about-diamonds/news/clarity-the-whiteflash-definition-of.htm

It's completely trustworthy from their perspective and by their definition. Yours may be different but you can call and discuss any of their ACA stones with them as they are all in house. I have an SI1 that is completely eye clean - an appraiser thinks it should have been graded VS. The good news for me was that I didn't pay for VS clarity. It just happened to be the stone I was very interested in and it had the added bonus of pinpoint inclusions on the edges of the stone. Not all SI1 stones are created equal though.

Ask them to pull the stone and tell you about the inclusions. If you think you are clarity sensitive, explain that to them too. What some can live with others cannot so it all depends on what your definition of eye clean is.
