Hi there,
I am the "engagee" in this case
and I always have wanted an emerald cut. But I remember once going to or local jeweler where we have all of our jewelry made once and, upon inquiring about an emerald cut, they explained to me that it''s the "least brilliant" diamond cut but still very beautiful (I''ve since done my research and know WAY more about that stuff now, but I still really like the emerald cut and know it can be quite beautiful). Although I love the look of an emerald, there''s no denying how much I LOVE the fire in a round or princess cut. I just like that long lean look to a stone. So I was trying to find an alternative.
I did some more research and it is DIZZYING how many cut options I have just in the "long stone" department.
Here''s an example of some of the cuts I''m looking into:
Jubilee
Radiant
Gabrielle emerald
Adura
Aleya
Angelina
Curvex
Barocut***
Crisscut***
Princ
Royalcrest
Spring
Tycoon*****
Ashoka*
Caressa
Divine?
Dahlia?
Blaze?
Baquillion?
cleopatra marquise
astrea (pear)
aurora (marquise)
baroness
dubai
duchesse
electra (oval)
emerella
flame
kiss
regent
scintilla (pear or marquise)
victorian
andre (marquise)
I think the problem is that I had my heart ''set'' (no pun intended) on emerald cut and after doing some research I''m now willing to lean towards long oval, marquise, or pear shapes as well. Even a "longer" or more rectangular square cut would be great (hence, the Jubillee - I looked at a TON of photos in the ring gallery and there was no mistaking a jubillee diamond - i could guess that a diamond was a jubillee before even being told!).
So, I''d like to ask for some opinions or testimonies about the cuts mentioned above (especially the "branded" cuts). I need some guidance!!!
TIA,
Chelsea
(P.S. - right now my top four are looking like tycoon cut, barocut, crisscut, and prince cut, respectively)
