This is my first post. I wish I found this forum sooner!

My boyfriend told me to start looking around at rings, so I''ve started browsing different jewelry sites.

After looking at a lot of gorgeous solitaire rings...I determined I just didn''t want one. I much prefer one beautiful diamond band to a solitaire ring or a solitaire plus band combo.

Does anyone else prefer a band to a rock? Where are your rings from? How do you like them?

I really like this one from Tacori - but have had a hard time finding other designers who do similar work, i.e. make gorgeous bands that are designed to be worn alone and not paired with a solitaire. Most places automatically assume your wedding band will be simple to match the rock.

(I''m not that interested in eternity bands. A friend of mine works for Helzburg and told me that eternity bands are among the dirtiest rings clients bring in for cleaning because the diamonds on the inside sit in your hand''s sweat. Yuck! And you can''t see those anyway.)

Hiya ediana! Welcome to Pricescope!

I know of several ladies that have opted for bands, rather than solitaires. It''s all a personal preference thing.

Beverly K makes some stunning bands that would stand alone quite well, and are along similar lines the the tacori you posted (which is gorgeous). http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/beverley-k-jewelry/rings/

Artcarved has some fun ones: http://artcarvedbridal.com/productcontent.do?cid=56&cid1=56&all=true

Here are some from DimendScaasi: http://www.dimendscaasi.com/english/ring/default.asp

Another option would be to stack a band or two (or three) to acheive the look you want. I often wear my bezel band with a plain band when I don''t want to wear my solitaire.

Thanks for the links, geckodani! I found a few on the Beverly K site that are amazing and unique - this one, this one and this one.

Stacking bands hadn't occurred to me at all.

ooh those are all gorgeous!

I am a big fan of stand-alone bands and stacking bands! Canturi makes some gorgeous ones that you might want to look into ....

One thing, though: I''m a little confused when you say you don''t want an eternity band. The kinds of bands you''re looking at *are* all eternity bands. That just means that the stones go all the way around the band, as opposed to a half-eternity or a 5 stone band. On bands where the stones go all the way around, it''s pretty much impossible to keep them from rotating/spinning around on your hand. The only solution appears to be frequent scrubbing ... unless you''d really like a band where the stones only go half-way around?

You know that is what I wanted to do and got talked into a solitaire and I should have just gotten a really nice band. My bf skipped an engagemengt riing and wears a very classy diamond trcolor Cartier trinity ring - its dainty but is so elegant looking. A ring is personal to you and your relationship = get what YOU like. Have fun!

Welcome to Pricescope. I think a band would be great if that is what you like.

Circe - I thought eternity bands were specifically ones that had the diamonds all the way around... Do I have my terminology screwed up? (Entirely possible!

Of the bands I''ve looked at, the ones I liked the best are the ones that are tapered slightly in the back - they look more comfortable (anyone have experience with tapered vs. non-tapered?) - I think that style is less likely to have diamonds in the back, anyway.

It looks like Canturi''s website is being renovated, so I''m poking around on other websites looking for some of their rings. I haven''t checked out Cartier at all, either. Thanks Circe and likes_shiny_objects for the leads!
